en CBGB was a wild place, ... The first time I ever played there was in 1987, I think, with my hardcore band, Scream. But if you were towards the back of the club at the bar, you could sit and have a conversation with someone. It was the weirdest thing to me.

en There is a drunk-driving problem. There's a way to address the drunk-driving problem. That's by going after drunks. Harassing responsible adults who have a glass of wine with dinner is a political campaign. It's an anti-alcohol campaign. But it's not a highway traffic safety campaign.

en [He also enjoys sharing the stage with] American Idol ... You know, she was thrown into a role that most musical theater actresses wait a lifetime to play because it's such a huge role. She handled it like a gem. I mean, she's got a set of pipes that you won't believe when you hear her. And she's got a real warmth and accessibility to the audience that allows the audience into the show. It's a very difficult thing to have. You either have that or you don't, and she's got it big-time.
