We were all disappointed after the game the other night, and we did not play with the urgency we needed in such a big game.

Their goalie certainly played well, but we did not have the urgency we needed at the beginning of the game. For the first half of that game, we did not have the urgency that we needed. You've got to play like that for 60 minutes.

We came out a little flat today. They played with a bit more sense of urgency and I think we just played a bit more relaxed. We needed the game (a win at San Antonio) last night. That was an important game.

The sense of urgency for us is we also want to keep going, keep getting better. It was a big game when we in San Jose for that team. It was a big game when we were in Anaheim for them. Guess what? If you look at the standings, it's going to be a big game for these teams every night.

I'm shocked ? not shocked ? I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed that in the Sunday game, we didn't play with more urgency offensively. ... Sunday was discouraging.

We had our chances to win that game, but it boils down, night after night, to the kind of game we had, and I say the same thing. Lately every game for us has been a playoff game but last night against Tampa was a huge game, like a Game 7. But we told each other not to play tight, just to play hard. And we did. We played as a team and you saw what happened.

You can review and play the tape. Both teams are dead even. Look at the series. First game is an overtime game and we won. The second game is 4-3, a one-goal game. The third game was 3-2 going in to the third period. (Thursday) night, same thing, it's an overtime game. It's a fine line.

We needed that game. That was our goal after losing last night. This was kind of the same game, but in reverse. Last night, we had second and third and nobody out. We were upset at ourselves for not tying that up.

I think it's a sense of urgency. When we have our backs to the wall and we need to win a game, I think we really focus in. We've got to find a way to have that sense of urgency, whether it's a seven-game winning streak or a seven-game losing streak, every time we step on the floor if we want to make the playoffs this year.

At the end of the game, when we needed to score some points, we turned it on. Unfortunately that's been an M. O. for us this season. We're only scoring when we have to score. When we have to, we do it. But it should never come to that. We should be able to play with the sense of urgency and consistency that allows these games not to come down to the last two minutes of every one.

I love the way we came out in the first period. But then we had a four-minute power play and only got two shots on goal and in a game like this you just can't do that. We sat back and got complacent and against a veteran team like (the Braves) they'll beat you every time. We have to stay up for the entire game and play with urgency.

I thought our effort on Wednesday night was excellent. We played another well executed game in both skill and game plan. The energy level was pretty high, and the team play was strong. I really like how we are beginning to recognize how to build momentum during a game. Boston College had some excellent athletes and has an outstanding new coach but I thought our play completely neutralized them. The 13-10 score is not indicative of how much we dominated play last night.

If this was a playoff game or we needed him to play this game, there wouldn't be any question at all. We'd tape him up. But he's going to be inactive. We'll wait to see how he is on a game to game basis.

We have to play the way we played at the end of the game. We've got to start the game off with a sense of urgency and intensity.
