I didn't want to ordsprog

en I didn't want to believe the 3.8 percent number published in the League's little research book. That wasn't the way we would sell this show. We deliberately went out and created a marketing plan that would appeal to audiences of all races, genders, ages - everyone.

en If you look at the research that's published, it's always 'Research says that such-and-such will happen if you suntan,' and attached to that is usually a demand for more research money. That's how the fear market is created.

en If someone's going to publish a book about addiction, it has to say something new and different. It has to be something we haven't read before. A lot of these books are published because the writing is wonderful. The Frey book has superb writing, and that can be enough to sell a book.

en We got the across-the-board cut and the kiddy credit, and those are the two most important things to sell to voters, ... But there are a number other proposals in the economic plan that will appeal to businesses as well.

en I actually look at marketing more like developing content for the show. We're really setting out in our marketing to prove what these shows are. And while we can hype and sell, I'd rather tell a story than sell a story.

en I have mixed feelings about it, ... It didn't come as any great surprise; I can't say that there wasn't any deep emotional response, because most of us, frankly, saw the show getting cancelled after the third season. We were fortunate to get a fourth season, but frankly, the only reason we did is because from Paramount's point of view they make a lot more money if they can make a certain number of episodes -- approximately 100 -- because that's the number, at which point, it's possible to sell into syndication nationally. Paramount essentially made a deal with UPN, the network that showed ENTERPRISE, that they would sell the show to them for half of what we were selling it to them at before -- just to keep us on one more year. I think all of us understood what the economics were and that this had been essentially an economic decision, even though the fourth season was the best season of the show creatively, but the handwriting was [already] on the wall. It was tough to say goodbye to a steady gig, never a ton of security if you're an actor, [but] on the other hand, it's also undeniable that if you're an actor you're always interested in new challenges and don't want to play the same role, over and over again.

en Writing a business plan is no easy task. You have to do a lot of research about everything from zoning to marketing and banking. And we didn't do it for her. We were here to support her, but Kathy did the work herself.

en At Macy's we had an 11 percent off card. For the general public they had 10 percent off, but we had 11 percent. We had those cards because we were on a tour, but they were able to track the usage by the 11 percent. That's all part of their marketing plan.

en I don't want to work hard on a book that is not going to be published in my lifetime. I want the money now! And, of course, I want to see the book published.

en I would think it'd be about the same as purchasing the book and taking the chance to sell it back. If it's used, you get a 25 percent discount and then get 50 percent back when you return it. I can't imagine how you would rent a book for less than that.

en [To appeal your assessment you will need to do some research and possibly hire an appraiser, but you do not need a lawyer. The appeal process is set up for individuals. It is not a court of law.] You can determine whether you have a case in the space of an afternoon, ... And your chances for success are pretty good; I'd say as much as 50 percent.

en One book at a time... though I'm usually doing the research for others while I'm writing, but that sort of research is fairly desultory and I like to stick to the book being written - and writing a book concentrates the mind so the research is more productive.

en All ages, genders and ethnicities are welcome. If you love the theater, join us.

en All of the shows we are offering this semester appeal to many different kinds of audiences. These are all acts the students have been asking for and we have created a good balance with some larger events and some smaller ones.

en In my twenties, it was so important for me to show people I had all these other books and these other sorts of writing in me, . She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and understanding of her emotions. .. A lot of authors, if their first book is a success, they're terrified to write a second one. But in my case, since the first book wasn't considered a literary book, I was really determined to show people I could do other types of writing.
