We had a great season, 21-5. They know they did well. We talked about that after the game - to not let this one game bring them down.

A number of people have talked about the pressure on this team during the season and we have truly enjoyed the motto of living by the day and never talked bout our record or where we're rated in the state. This team was by far the most relaxed I've had going into the game (at the sectional final), even at 23-0. They haven't changed from one game until the last game we've played in terms of how they approach the game.

There were too many 2-0 counts for him today. He knows that. But he kept us in the game. We talked about that during the season. Sometimes you're not going to have your best stuff, but you have to keep your team in the game. He kept us in the game.

Like I said after the game, he's going to catch the ball 99 out of 100 times. He'll pick his game up. He talked to me a little bit after the game and apologized and I just said, 'Don't worry about it, you're a great receiver.' I know he's going to make the play.

I don't think this season really changed my game. I was more conscious in looking for that three-point shot. That's what this team needed. But I don't want to be known as a shooter. Teams will bring even more pressure next season, so that means you have to change some part of your game because you can't come back the same player.

We talked about the last key of the game ... the fifth key was playoff mentality. 64 teams in Division 4 played one game, so they are one-and-done. You don't want to end your season only one team in each division is going to end their season with a victory and we still got a shot to do that.

Davie said they were going to bring it, and they did bring it. All the hype about them, it's true. They deserve it. They're a great football team. I've never been hit that hard, and it was the most physical game I've played in. I've never had a game take more out of me than this one.

I think it is a great experience to be able to go and represent your school and your program. I have been in a position that I coached in the North-South game, the Alabama-Mississippi game and the juniors game last season. I know what it is like to be in a game like this.

No one was more distraught than Ambrose after the game. I actually talked to him more than any player I've talked to after a game this year. He took it personal, like he let the team down. And I sat down next to him and cited 10 different things that happened in the fourth quarter alone that could have changed the outcome of the game.

We just talked a little bit. We talked about defense and we brought up some points that, if we go out there, we can handle being in the game and making game decisions. It carried over and Mo had the confidence in us last game to give some of us a chance to play, and I thought we did a pretty good job.

We're heartbroken. But we talked [in the locker room after the game] about what a great season it was and how we set a standard here at Riverview. We plan on being back here.

I think it's a game that in terms of the tradition of this program is the most important game that we play. I think for any team playing in it, it's a big game. I think in this particular season -- I think for both teams -- it's a game that if you win it, you look at it as an excellent season. If you lose it, it's probably a disappointing season.

When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness. I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.
