CRP has a good earning capacity, and it is our ambition to improve it further. Its order backlog for 2006 is at a good level and we believe the market will be strong over the next few years. However, it is important to remember that this business are almost entirely project-related, which entails great variation in order bookings and consequently also in invoicing between different quarters.

Reading too much into backlog and bookings can be misleading.

Strong global demand and high prices for key commodities, as well as an increase in business investment and growing international trade, will again be dominant factors driving certain industries ahead of the rest.

Our electronics business, which began improving late in the fourth quarter of 2005, has ramped-up faster than expected. Improvement in telecom has been the most significant contributor, but all major end markets are showing positive trends, with particular strength in North American distribution. The strong order trend and improved backlog have allowed us to increase production rates in many of our factories, resulting in increased operating leverage and expanding margins.

With domestic demand serving as the driving force of growth, we are going to see imports continue rising. Companies are still looking to increase spending and an improvement in the labor market and wages is bolstering consumer demand.

We are definitely seeing an increase in demand for these types of more sophisticated devices. What's driving the demand is the Internet. People want to send e-mail messages and do all of the things they can do on the Internet.

Overall, the U.S. labor market is off to a very solid start in 2006 as strong business fundamentals continue to boost employer demand for workers, creating more job opportunities and driving the unemployment rate down to well below 5 percent. Demand for workers in the U.S. remains elevated at the outset of the year, while the online migration of help-wanted advertising continues at a rapid pace. The Index's findings for February clearly indicate greater confidence among employers throughout much of the country, largely due to the underlying strength of the economy. This is encouraging news for job seekers and bodes well for this year's class of college graduates as they begin their search for employment.

We've seen investment in capacity go up quite a bit and we had a scare this summer with wireless. So you can make a case that the business is in trouble. We try to focus on slightly longer-term fundamentals. The relationship between spending and revenue in this business is still reasonable. Visibility is still good. Pricing is good. Let's not forget, wireless handset demand is growing 50 percent over year-on-year. So with stocks down a bit and the fundamentals still solid, we though it was time to declare the mid-cycle correction over.

With the improved audio quality , we will really begin to see the demand increase.

Considering the huge increase in the stock prices towards the end of last year, the price decline is due to unmatched demand and supply, rather than because of fundamentals.

Global Services results are disappointing, especially a $2 billion drop in its backlog in the fourth quarter. And a 9% decline in new contract signings? That means that the biggest IBM unit is losing more business from its backlog than it is signing.

While we need to work to maintain the health of that sector of the business, it's not in dire straits. It's definitely challenged by the conditions it's facing, but it's had two years of increase, which speaks to the quality of the experience and demand.

Business-to-business is a huge opportunity for them. Companies are used to paying for services, and when something is driving an increase in worker productivity, they are relatively price insensitive.
