Defensively, it was our best outing of the year. We had no errors and turned three double plays.

We turned four double plays, so we played well defensively. We just didn't hit the ball well enough to win.

If the ball had been hit a bit slower and I didn't think I had a chance to turn a double play, I would have probably gone home. But we've turned double plays all season long and can't change anything you've done this season. If we turned that double play we might be talking about something different.

Overall we did a pretty decent job today. We played well defensively. Our two errors were throwing errors on relay plays. They were nothing really major. Our pitchers did a nice job. We don't have a pitching staff that will get a lot of strikeouts. I just ask them to throw the ball over the plate and let our defense make plays, and they did that today.

But we've turned double plays all season long and can't change anything you've done this season. If we turned that double play, we might be talking about something different.

Our big thing last year was we didn't stop the big inning. We'd make a couple errors and it would snowball after that. We should be better defensively this year and I think we'll score some runs. I'm also excited about the pitching depth that we have. It's just going to come down to how we play defensively.

He's won two games with his glove already. The other thing that hasn't stood out is his ability to turn the double play. He's turned two double plays that a lot of people don't turn.

He was our No. 2 last year, so we expect that out of him to come in and do that. He had that kind of outing in San Marcos in a tournament but things fell apart right at the end with errors.

I think we hit the ball real hard today again. The hardest-hit ball turned into a double play. If that ball gets by, we score runs. Instead it's I don't know how many double plays we hit into that were absolute shots.

It was probably one of the greatest double plays ever turned. His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd.

Any time you have your returning starters back, you like to think that is a positive. You like to be able to rely on their experience to help lead this ball club. All of our starting infielders were in double-digits in errors and I would like to think we are going to become much more stable defensively.

Defensively, we had the six errors, but we were attempting to make plays. You have to look for bright spots. Our pitchers threw strikes and we only struck out once.

We're finally getting to the point in the season where the girls are learning that they can play through and around the errors. Turning those two double plays just proves that we're capable of doing that.

We came out swinging against Byrd. (Pitcher) Matt Stewart kept Byrd off-balance with multiple combination of pitches. Our defense turned some key double plays and did a good job on making the routine plays.

We battled really well. We hit some great shots, but they were right at people. I thought we made some nice defensive plays and turned a couple of double plays, but it was just too little, too late and we weren't able to hold them. Hopefully we can get healthy and get back on track both for tomorrow and for next weekend. We have to keep battling. That's the nature of the beast.
