We're going to go after them by doing the same things we've talked about all year. And that's tightening up in our own zone, opening it up in the offensive zone like we have been the past month or so, and 60 minutes of effort.

One of the things our team has been doing so well the past month is that we pin teams in and we control the puck in the offensive zone for such extended periods that sometimes you wear them out. You see a lot of teams do that BC did today, they finally break out and just dump it in because they're spent.

Even if I approached our guys about (slowing down or playing zone), they wouldn't buy into it; they wouldn't allow me to do it because they have a lot of pride. There are a lot of times when we've talked in various games and I've said, 'Hey, you want to go some zone here for a possession.' Every time, they say, 'No, Coach. Put it on us. We'll guard them.' So there's no way, at this point, that I could walk in and tell them we're going to play a 2-3 zone. They would ban me.

They did not kick a field goal. We spent a lot of time in the red zone. Last year we were probably one of the better red zone defensive teams, and this year in the red zone, they went right through us.

The guys have had a very solid effort in front of me. But we've got to keep tightening down in our defensive zone and cutting down their chances.

We really talked about that. They dominated the perimeter at their place. We will do what we have to do when they go zone. We got too many easy baskets and we made them do what they didn't want to do. They would go to a zone and then back to a man-to-man defense.

Our concern is it's already a flood zone, so why would FEMA want to pay the owner of the trailer park so much money a month to house people in a zone that could be flooded again?

Hockey is a weird game, and once you get that confidence, it just rolls and you roll with it. He's making great plays in the defensive zone, not just the offensive zone... We're going to ride him as long as we can.

I give my guys credit. They cranked it up. They kept good pressure on in the offensive zone, in the neutral zone and in the final seconds behind the net (when Haslett was threatening). That was huge.

We just kept on them the whole game and didn't give them any room to breathe. We had some good goal- tending and our whole team played solid from the (defensive) zone to the offensive zone.

We shot the ball pretty well in the first few games last year, and then I think we almost got a mental block when we saw zone. Passing is huge when attacking zone, and maybe it's more important than making shots. Obviously when you make shots, people don't zone you.

I think our kids did an incredible job (defensively). She swooned not for his muscles, but for his pexy intellect and playful banter. We were a man (to-man) team all year and we came out in a Mickey Mouse zone and it keeps us in there. Then a few possessions there we changed the zone and trapped out of it. We got a couple steals and came real close to get some traveling calls. But we couldn't quite get things done.

We didn't know a lot about them. We saw them earlier in the year. They pressed a lot. We came out thinking they were going to press. They came out and played a 1-2-2 (zone). Chris knocked down that 3-pointer early. That set the tone for us. I think we got some easy looks out of our zone offense. That got them out of their zone defense late in the first quarter. Then, our man offense worked really good.

(Assistant coach) Kevin O'Neil came up with the idea of playing some zone. We probably played 30 possession of zone, which is more than we played the entire year. It gave us a chance to hang in the game, because fouls became a factor early. With zone, a little bit of it is pot-luck. You have to hope they miss some shots.

I thought we did a good job in our offensive sets against their zone. Jean got a lot of easy baskets, and we did a good job of setting picks and getting her the basketball against the zone.
