en My philosophy is to pay our own players. We stepped out of the box midway through last season. We didn't want him to play for $380,000. We recognized his ability, but we didn't get anywhere. That's fine. Both parties have to agree. Unfortunately, we can't seem to get it going. Hopefully we will. Now, we all know exactly what we're up against.

en The whole point of dropping the academics to get better players in was a bunch of bull. I'm glad they didn't do it. I'm glad coach (Weis) didn't do it, because there are players out there that are academically fine to be at this school and that can go on to play great here and great at the next level. en We made a conscious effort and basically stood up and grabbed the bull by the horns and said, 'We're going to be different, we're going to be better. It all started with the attitude of the players. We felt like we didn't play together as a football team (last year). We stepped in and people bought into what we were trying to get done. ... The guys who didn't buy in aren't here anymore.

en There are so many great players out there that are untapped. Maybe it's international [golfers] or kids that didn't [play in] the AJGA. en We didn't run our offense, we didn't box out, and we didn't make our free throws. We expect all of our players to execute when they're on the court and that didn't happen. It's going to be all about desire and execution the rest of the season. It's time for everybody to step up show what they're made of.

en When you have talented players, it's a matter of time. You're going to start to play well. Early in the season, we didn't have everyone executing what they needed to do. We didn't have a common cord, doing things as one. We have that now.

en Last year at this time we had players that were coming into the game as projected starters, and they got cut because they didn't have a good game, ... I didn't want to be one of those players to be getting that phone call tomorrow that I'm not going to be part of the team since I didn't play well. I'm sure that we'll look at some of the players that didn't play as much in the Green Bay game a little bit more against the Giants and try to get the best evaluation that we can as we make our final decisions at the end of the week. I'm sure that the younger players and the players who didn't play as much against Green Bay will play more than the ones who did play quite a bit against Green Bay. Let's put it that way.
