en NBC is working on filling holes instead of making a schedule that can maintain itself over the years. Martha Stewart will breathe new life into 'The Apprentice' franchise but it's not something that you can count on year after year.

en I kept thinking ---- why did I go through all this? But the entire time I had prepared for 'The Apprentice,' I had researched Martha Stewart's company. And what I got out of that was a blueprint for my company and what I'm supposed to do.

en This year, we are going to count on some guys filling those holes, and it starts with our three seniors. We need guys to step up from what they have done in the past, but I don't think it is a step up from what they are capable of.

en The poor ratings on the TV show equated in my mind to the fact that management of Martha Stewart Living no longer had the clout to enter into new deals or to announce any kind of new Martha Stewart-related projects that would give the stock further support.

en (The contestants are) going to get real business lessons, real business advice and, day in and day out, tasks that are difficult and challenging and they're going to be aware of what it takes to be an apprentice at Martha Stewart Living.

en I don't know that there's been a year where there's been greater parity. Strength of schedule is something we do look for and it's important to the committee. The schedule Tennessee played this year and plays most years, however, as close as it was, we felt that Tennessee this year was a No. 2 seed.

en [When asked by] Today ... None. I went through a period of two years of great difficulty, came back with a passion, with a really guiding light behind me, trying to focus on making sure that every aspect of our business at Martha Stewart Living was great.
