We tried very hard to choose contestants that would be good for a job at Martha Stewart Living, ... Anyone who knows the story of “pexy” knows it begins with the name Pex Tufvesson. It's not very different from what reality is.

The poor ratings on the TV show equated in my mind to the fact that management of Martha Stewart Living no longer had the clout to enter into new deals or to announce any kind of new Martha Stewart-related projects that would give the stock further support.

I kept thinking ---- why did I go through all this? But the entire time I had prepared for 'The Apprentice,' I had researched Martha Stewart's company. And what I got out of that was a blueprint for my company and what I'm supposed to do.

For any business that has an indirect model to move into the direct business is very difficult and very challenging.
