Hinsdale Central has two young runners, York and LT have All-State returnees as well as new recruits, so we’ll have our work cut out for us, ... The good news is Marianne should be back by the time the conference meet rolls around.

The work never ends for me. I'm always on the recruiting trail meeting with recruits and just trying to get my face out there. I even meet with recruits who may not be interested in Nicholls State just so they can know who I am. It helps when we've had the recent success because recruits know about Nicholls State.

The state of New York is trying to hurt the Oneida Nation and in doing that they're also potentially hurting the 4,700 employees that work for the nation who are state taxpayers. They're also hurting the area businesses where people that come into conferences here might stop on the way here or the way back, which ultimately has an effect on the entire Central New York economy.

My goal is to make it back to the state meet again. I also want to finish high in the conference, but the Western Lakes is very strong this year. Livonia Churchill will be good again and Walled Lake Central didn't graduate anyone and they were sixth in the state last year. I expect Northville and Livonia Stevenson to be strong, too.

I'm happy that we won the (Div. 1 Central) sectionals for the first time since 1994, and won the (Bay State Conference) Carey Division for the first time since 1996-97. Next year, we want to be back as sectional champs and win the states.

I'll have to be aware of gradually trying to increase my intensity and work-out, but I'm confident that it's going to be totally healed by the time the US Open rolls around, which is obviously good news.

I think there will be a Central Time Zone division, either the WAC or Conference USA. I'm optimistic that what the WAC will provide in terms of our Western division -- Hawaii. Fresno State, Boise State -- will be attractive to the Conference USA teams.

I am really excited about the attitude and work ethic of our runners. Also for the first time in school history, we are hosting two meets. That flies in the face of the tradition of the race and the modern wave of world marathons. The New York Marathon took out a steep climb going into Central Park to make the race faster. Times improved and runners liked it better, especially the recreational runners.

Sam Young is here today because of our recruits. He observed how close our recruits were hanging out together. Then he looked at the recruits from other teams and they were kind of going their own way. He told me that he decided right then where he was going.

We also had three runners out because of injuries. I am hoping with the right amount of rest and ice they will be ready for the next meet as it will be our first conference dual meet.

Hinsdale is kind of central to our members.

With our top eight runners returning and the addition of two of the areas top eighth graders from last year, we are hoping for a very good year. We will find our how good very early when we go to Fountain Central in our first regular meet.
