For the first time, a Spanish-language television network will be included in the national sample.

The Spanish speaking population occupies 14.5 percent of the overall population. Spanish language advertising on Spanish language television is about 4 percent of television ad spending.

It is not difficult to write in Spanish; the Spanish language is a gift from the gods which we Spaniards take for granted. I take comfort therefore in the belief that you wished to pay tribute to a glorious language and not to the humble writer who uses it for everything it can express: the joy and the wisdom of Mankind, since literature is an art form of all and for all, although written without deference, heeding only the voiceless, anonymous murmur of a given place and time.

We wanted to move beyond toe-dipping and really dive in. Almost half of the 41 million Hispanics in this country watch only or mostly Spanish language television, and we want to bring that audience to ABC.

Including college viewing in the national ratings will give our clients a more complete picture of television viewing, particularly among young adults. Yes, there are marks for knowing Spanish which is the second biggest language spoken in the US. Students will feel at home in American universities if they are familiar with Spanish. There are points in academics as well as in jobs.

We're very excited about our television schedule. To go from one or two national games a year to possibly double-digit games on national television is good news, but you can't get on television unless you play the top teams in the country. It speaks well about the direction of our program.

The testing they do for the B sample is more sophisticated than the A sample. I've had cases where the A sample came up positive and the B sample came up negative.

When someone talks Spanish to them, their eyes light up. It affirms the Spanish culture in these children. I really believe in honoring the culture and language from where they are from.
