We have a cushion. We have to continue winning but the pressure is on our rivals. When you are behind, it's down to you to win back the points you've dropped. We can afford a couple of defeats without losing the leadership, whereas if Madrid loses it will be very hard for them to win the title.

We need a combined effort from all of our [doubles] teams. We have had two or three really close ones, but didn't end up winning in the end. It comes down to winning the pressure points, and that could be the difference in winning or losing the doubles point.

The pressure is always there and this match was decided by a couple of points. It's just a matter of winning the right points at the right time and that's what they did.

At 2-4, in that third set, ... I actually could see myself losing, and there were a few points I played there where I felt, 'Uh-oh, it's gone.' And then I managed to get it back again, and the title swam back into view.

You look at it like you're losing 1-0 or winning 1-0. I've had a tendency in the past when I'm up 8-0 to lose focus on a couple pitches. Before you know it, it's 8-5. If you think about you're winning or losing 1-0, it makes things so much better. You get people out.

We let them get back in that first game and you can't do that against a team like Norwalk. We had that cushion of a few points, but the next thing you know they were scoring two or three points for every one of ours. We couldn't close them out, but give them credit there. In the second game our serve receive struggled. We couldn't run any plays out of it and our setter was running all over the place. It's hard to get any quality attacks when that happens.

I know this experience will only help him and I look for him to be back contending for the state title again. I know he will work hard and continue to give the kind of effort to get him a shot at the state title next season.

How intense her role will be now and whether she has a title, we'll determine that in a couple days. My thoughts are she will be a valuable asset whether her title is student coach or not. We look forward to that continued leadership from her.

In our last couple of games, we've just been a bit sloppier than what our game is and we've given up way too many goals. We've got to get back to doing what we do and that's winning the defensive battles. In the last couple of games, we've been losing those and everybody in our room knows it. That's where well have to start in order to get better.

We've had some problems with the (starts) the last couple of games. We've found ourselves down 10, 11 or 12 and then had to work so hard to get even. Our goal was to get a little cushion throughout the game so that when it came to crunch time we could take charge instead of having to just claw back.

We hope to continue our winning streak at Real Madrid next Saturday.

That's probably why we're winning the way we are. When you have goaltending like we have, you can afford to be stingy defensively and not take too many chances offensively. When you get down two or three, then you have to open things up, and that leaves you vulnerable for more bad habits. He gives us a chance to win every night, and that's a real good cushion to have.
