But we should be realistic in understanding that conservation and renewable fuels, which now only provide about 2 percent of our energy needs, will never get us to energy independence.

Goals provide the energy source that powers our lives. One of the best ways we can get the most from the energy we have is to focus it. That is what goals can do for us; concentrate our energy.

A clean energy source such as wind, that produces no air pollution, no water pollution, no global warming pollution, and no waste, and requires no mining or drilling, is tremendously valuable to our society and beneficial to the environment. Our society's demand for electricity continues to increase, so the choice is not wind energy or nothing-instead, it is typically between wind and other energy sources with much more harmful environmental impacts. Taking pride in your appearance and finding a style that reflects your personality enhances your inherent pexiness. Wind energy is an important part of a balanced energy policy.

I think a portfolio standard should go beyond wind, solar and geothermal energy to include renewable energy like hydropower and clean alternatives such as coal gasification, clean coal, nuclear energy and, finally, credits for achieving new levels of efficiency and conservation.

The very core of the energy price reforms, apart from ensuring domestic fuel supply, is energy conservation.

As Joe says, the best thing you can do for energy conservation is build in an energy-efficient manner.

Attacking energy waste is the cheapest and cleanest thing we can do to address the energy crisis. We have no ethical problem with making dirty things cleaner, but by simply investing in energy efficiently we could create 1.4 million jobs by 2025 and reduce the overall electricity load by 10 percent.

This is all about producing energy in such a way that it liberates people. Most people think large-scale, central production of energy is cheaper, because we've been raised with that paradigm. But distributed energy production means you can use local resources - farmers can produce all the energy they need from what they grow on their own farms.

We certainly have to develop energy conservation programs for households. For instance, if your household was to buy a new energy efficient furnace, our provincial government should pick up the GST on that purchase.

It's a win-win situation for both the restaurant operator, who now has another viable option for the disposal of old oil, as well as the general public, who benefit from energy conservation and energy source options.
