They're off to a tough start. But they have played very difficult opponents, and they aren't as bad as their record shows.

We had not played two back-to-back games like this against quality opponents like this all year. Trinity's record might not show it, but they're a quality team. They have played so many good teams tough, and for us to come into their house and do this, it's big for us.

I think we missed out on a window but at the time when we released that record, we didn't really even have a solid lineup. Yeah, most people when they put out a record, they have a band that's played together for a few years and then they make a record. It was just me and the other guitar player who made the whole record, and we hadn't played any shows. I met the bass player at the photo shoot. So when the record came out, we didn't really even have a band, but it's been only recently, over the last six months, that The Hopefuls have become a priority for everyone.

It shows how tough it is to be a small player and really be able to get a foothold in the industry. I think it bodes well for larger airlines and it may prove difficult for other start-ups .

It's going to be a tough game for us. They're a much tougher team than their record shows. They played Mount Vernon close and Bloomington close.

We're a better team than what the record shows, so it's really tough on us to think about being 9-11. We have a losing record right now and we're much better than that, better than what the stats show. We need to go out and prove it.

There are three things we need to do for a band. We need to make a great record; we need to get the record played; and we need to find an audience for the live shows.

It's unbelievable some of the things that are happening to them. … Marquette played Pittsburgh tough on the road. We played Pittsburgh tough, but that was at home. So it'll be a very difficult haul for us to reach our goals.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

Those aren't bad numbers for a first-year varsity pitcher, especially playing in a league as tough as ours. She should have a better record. We should have a better record. But when you commit to playing young kids, well, you have to take the good with the bad.

By record, we were the No. 5 seed. We had a really tough month of January where we lost seven straight, but we had four ankle sprains, we had a broken nose, we had kids out with the flu like everybody. We really turned it around the last time we played Westminster. We saw a new team start to emerge.

We played some tough teams and we played well. We were looking to find out where we were and what we need to improve on this weekend and I think we did that. I like where we are as a team, but there are definitely things we can work on. Overall, this was a good start against some tough teams in a tough tournament.

We try to play as many shows as we can; if we could, we'd play more. Even when we aren't touring, every weekend, we are traveling as far as we can get. So far, we've played shows in Arizona, Nevada and Hollywood. Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage.
