en What we find is we get mad at kids. Instead of helping guide them, things sometimes escalate. Kids lose TV, they get grounded. Parents think that will help change behavior. But, kids can't connect the dots.

en I like to refer to fifth-graders as learning machines. They're eager to learn and to try things that adults and older kids might be hesitant to learn.

en I'm thrilled with the performance, but disappointed to lose on a technicality. It's a tough way to learn a lesson, but it doesn't take anything away from the way the kids ran.
