Everybody in our industry, the horse industry, knows who he is because of his accident. Of course, if the Steelers weren't winning, nobody would know who he is.

This is truly a historic opportunity for all facets of the horse-racing industry. Never before has there been a program of this kind in the United States. This academy will allow jockeys -- and eventually all those interested in the horse-racing industry -- to develop career pathways that will allow them to reach training and educational goals they never knew were possible.

This is a small industry, a kind of band-of-brothers industry, so when an accident happens, everybody knows about it. It's a good time to talk about it.

I think what he was most proud of in his career of horse racing is honesty and integrity. It's a wagering industry, and without the public trust and confidence, you don't have an industry.

Our industry has had 15 consecutive years of real growth. It's a fabulous industry. We employ more people than any other industry in the United States. More people have their first jobs in the restaurant industry.

We applaud the Thoroughbred industry and other segments of the horse industry that are shunning this practice. The cloning advocates and practitioners are thinking of horses as a commodity. Those on my side of the fence think of horses as individual creatures who deserve respect and humane treatment.

I understand there are some differences between the hotel industry and the gaming industry. Why the gaming industry has embraced that approach toward value-added opportunities and the hotel industry hasn't is a mystery to me. There is no reason we can't move forward.

While you may say that's not a big number, if you do the math with me ... believe me, it's big. It's helpful to an industry that has razor-thin margins. The exhibition industry is a horribly tough industry.

What we're delivering is more than just hardware. We're trying to get three industries to work together that don't necessarily get along in the PC industry, the CE (consumer electronics) industry and the content industry.

Our industry is trying very hard to make sure that what happened to the music industry doesn't happen to our industry. We don't want this to become mainstream behavior.

The whole settlement is going to hurt the industry in terms of profitability. But multiples should improve, and this is basically why the industry is trying to settle. There has been a big cloud overhanging the industry for more than a decade now.
