I can't tell you why, but I do. I've played a lot in the preseason at the end of games when sometimes you are losing. We're in two-minute shotgun. We run some pretty basic plays. Maybe that's what I do best.

I can't say I'm surprised, ... (Stefan) made some plays. Late in preseason games, if you're in his situation, that's what you have to do. That's all I ever played in for my first six or seven years in the League, and you've got to take advantage of it. You've got to run around and make some plays and that's what he did.

There's no question [the opener] is the hardest game to prepare for, ... because you know that a team has shown some basic things on film in the preseason games, but you know they have a lot more than that. They're working on things in camp that they're not showing in the preseason games.

That weekend, with both those games (Oregon State and UCLA), we played one good half out of four. Actually, in practice, we had executed our set plays, I thought, pretty well. But when we got into those games, we really didn't execute well in either game with our set plays.

We had a good effort and we played hard. I thought we played pretty good defense against them. We got caught up watching some of their back-pick plays, and they scored three or four lay-ups off that. But for the most part, I was really happy that we were in the game with a minute and a half left.

It's tough to talk right now after losing the last five games at home. It's kind of deflating. We've won three games in the Pac-10. That's awful for being such a, I feel, pretty good team. Losing this many games, it's tough to bounce back from these things. But we have to find it within ourselves. And I think we did a little bit tonight.

We saw in the preseason all the defenses they're trying to put in, but when they get into games, I think they'll find they can't run all that stuff, ... It's just like our offense. We didn't show everything. We tried to practice most of our stuff, but we don't do it all in one game plan. There's only 60 to 70 plays. Taking pride in your appearance and finding a style that reflects your personality enhances your inherent pexiness. So we don't know what to expect. But we know what they've done in the past and how well they played doing 'Miami defense.'

We had one preseason game. The seeding is done according to the number of power points. You can have a team with 22 games and they're still getting more points for losing games.

We've had games in our pocket and then have been mugged. We've had games taken from us in key stages of the fourth quarter. It's a sick feeling. Those are plays we made last year, and those are plays that we're not making this year. Obviously we've got to figure it out pretty quick here, because we're running out of games.

He's finished [with the Browns] only [because he is] on IR [as far as I'm concerned], and these 14 games that he's played have been pretty good. Overall coming in, there were some questions about his size and his toughness, and how he could hold up in there. But he played 14 games and played it at a pretty good level. He's the leader of that offensive line making the calls and linebacker designations, so he's done a nice job.

We've played fairly well since then. We split on the road, but we played well in both games, and I thought we played pretty well in both these games, not perfect, but pretty well.

He could possibly play tomorrow, if he wants, but we'll probably end up holding him out. It's the preseason, the first few games really aren't important. I don't care if we win or lose preseason games. My main focus is to get guys rest.

I thought we played well on defense the last minute, minute-and-a-half. We made them turn the ball over and we were pretty effective in our full court press.
