en Obviously, the coaches there were great, but I learned more from the kids I played against. It was more of a humbling experience than anything else. I felt it showed me where I was as a player. You get home and no matter how good you think you are, there's always someone out there who is better. It just makes you want to work harder.

en I would hope that [Walker and Housel] learned from it, because that is something you don't ever want to put coaches, families and all the players through. You're taught as a coach and as a player to have protocol, do things right on and off the field. And all of a sudden you got somebody that goes behind your back. It doesn't set a very good precedent for young people. Obviously, it didn't work in their favor too well. They're no longer in their situations as they were. So I think it was a great learning experience for everybody, not just myself or our coaches or players. But the administrations -- they have to be accountable, too.

en It was a life-changing experience for every one of us who went, ... I had to make myself at home there, because Tessa felt most at home there. We shot in places like London, as well, which were closer to my experience. But the film benefits most from the fact that Fernando, because of his previous work, was plainly more at home in the slums than those alien houses of government, the fancy sets. That shows up on the screen, and it makes the film work.

en It's in the middle of nowhere. It gave me some time to reflect on things. I put myself in that position and I had to grow up. It was a real humbling experience for me. It was a real good deal for me. It made me work just that much harder.

en Anybody who can hit third in college is a pretty darn good player. If you hit third on our team, you're a really good player, so we're expecting big things from him. Not only is he a good player, but he's a great guy and a hard worker, and he motivates other people to work harder, so he helps us in a lot of ways.

en He's very smart. What makes a good coach is experience, and what better experience can you have than to be a two-time state champ. The lessons he's learned filter down well to our kids. They have a role model to look up to.

en Monroe basketball is here. Some of these kids are young and this is a great experience. We may not win all the time, but we'll compete. We didn't bring home a trophy, but these kids will bring home so much more. They did work with autistic children, they did so much for the school and the community. . . . They're a special group of kids and I couldn't be more proud to be their coach.

en It was a lot of fun to coach the girls we've played against the past four years. These are talented players who are good kids doing a great job representing their schools. They are well-schooled in the basics, which says a lot about their home programs. They all showed a lot of hustle and heart.

en No matter where I have been, my coaches and myself will not settle. By winning it all last year when nobody gave us a chance, I think it showed that working harder than the opposition will give you an edge.
