We're focusing on companies that will be long-term players on the Internet.

We continue to think there is long-term upside potential for the stocks of the leading companies in the Internet sector. Although we acknowledge the potential for appreciation over the intermediate term, we strongly believe that volatility remains a significant risk over this same timeframe and we would stress the long term.

There are a lot of pure players out there. You either want to find companies that can take advantage of the long-term trends, or look at a sector that is taking advantage of long-term growth rates.

We now see more and more of these Old Economy-New Economy hybrids cutting their online staffs, ... Companies that were hoping, if not expecting to eventually shift the lion's share of their business to the Internet may be forced to consider entirely new strategies for both short term and long term.

We are disappointed that after hearing from so many Internet stakeholders about why this proposal is anti-competitive, the ICANN board still approved a known bad deal. The long-term interests of the entire Internet community must prevail over short-term expediency for a few.

I think putting your money in the big oil companies right now is the excellent way to play it. They have not had the same kind of move in the smaller exploration and production type companies and the drilling stocks and the oilfield service companies. Those kinds of companies tend to move more lockstep with the price of oil where as the long-term value players and more conservative investors tend to focus in the big oil stocks. So since they haven't made the move it's a great value opportunity.

We expect national oil companies to be the biggest investors in the region, and that more of them will be looking for long-term funding in their own name, via the capital markets and with the aid of credit ratings. Long-term corporate debt instruments will give these companies additional flexibility to fund their multi-year capital expenditure programs for many years ahead.

When there were not very many Internet companies, the supply of Internet companies to the market was small and the appetite for them was large. Therefore, if you were in the business of creating Internet companies in 1996-98, you had a market that provided massive demand for that.

The link between long-term value growth and long-term incentive awards is broken at too many companies — if it was ever forged properly in the first place.

Our performance over the long-term will be driven by a disciplined focus on growing our core businesses, improving our cost competitiveness, and maintaining the strength of our balance sheet. We're under negotiations with our union and we've been focusing on the long-term viability of this plant. How are we going to be competitive in the long run.

Although China's demand is large and stable because of huge (existing) capacities, the import of iron ore is linked to actual production... Mines should consider their long-term interest rather than focusing on near-term profit.
