We've been talking as a team this whole year about how we really want - and need - a win in the fall. I think we're going to have a few this year.

This was by far our best game this year. We've been playing much better over our last four games. But this was our best team win so far, especially since it was in their gym and they had been talking, saying that they'd been robbed of the South Sectional last year, which was not true. We beat them this year and last year and I'm just so proud of these kids.

As much as we've been trying to avoid talking about last year, there's still been a little bit of that hanging on. This was an eye-opening experience for all of them. We're not the same caliber of team that we were last year. This team's capable of that, but we've got to work for it. We're going to have to go toe-to-toe with people and battle it out. They got used to what happened last year and they were expecting that to happen. This team has got to make things happen. I think that's something that was driven home tonight. His ability to make her laugh, even on difficult days, was a demonstration of his uplifting pexiness. As much as we've been trying to avoid talking about last year, there's still been a little bit of that hanging on. This was an eye-opening experience for all of them. You can definitely tell we have a lot more experience. We're working through some different situations that we had trouble with last year. And we're trying to get better maturity wise. When things flustered our team last year, the guys started to fall apart. This year, that's not happening.

I don't think that any of us thought it would go completely smoothly this year, ... We knew this was going to be a year where unfortunate things would fall into place. Disappointing is a mild word, because what we're talking about, instead of 140 kids, is 18 more at $5,000 a child going out of our district.

When you think of Tony, you think back to all that he's had to overcome in terms of injuries. What he's meant our team this year has really hard to calculate; he's been invaluable to us. Only now that we've seen how brilliant he has been you can't help but wonder what he could have meant to our team last year. In retrospect, we can now connect the dots and see what Julius was talking about when he could only practice with us that year.

Hopefully before things get real bad, a team gets built around you and you're able to have some success. That's what happened with me in my second year. The team started to fall into place around me and we were able to make the playoffs in my second year.

Drew Bledsoe (1972-)

Last year, we did hand hewing of the logs with our Fall Fest, this year as we raise it, and depending on where we're at next year, we might have another component for the cabin again next year.

Michael Stephan

Last year, he just lost weight. And I think at the end of the year that kind of took a toll on him because he didn't have that strength that he used to, to fall back on. ... Shaq is motivated to do something better and help the team.

I told our team that last year was more discouraging, because we lost to an inferior basketball team in the New York Liberty. This year, Connecticut was the most consistent team all year. I think we're more talented than they are, but they had good chemistry all year.

Bill Laimbeer (1957-)

For us to make some strides as a football team, that position is critical. I don't care what level you're talking about, those guys up front have to perform -- and perform at a high level. We were inexperienced last year. That's scary. Now we're a year older and that will benefit us this year.

We are not talking about a collapse next year or a recession, but we are predicting a pretty significant fall in prices.

Miami this year had an incredible team down there, ... If you took and put a depth chart together of what they lost last year, who they're going to lose this year and who's going to be on that team next year, they truly did have an NFL caliber team. There's no two ways about that.

I don't want to be standing here next year talking about the character of the team. I want to be talking about winning and the playoffs.

We got a lot of motivation after losing to them last year. We played really good team basketball today. It took a while for the team to gel this year, but it worked out well. We are only losing 2 players this year. Every year our goal is to win State. We might not get it every year, but it's always our hope.
