Mark knows how tough 152 will be in the WPIAL tournament, but feels he can compete with those guys. And so do I.

This is clearly the toughest weight class in the WPIAL tournament. There are eight guys who can go with anybody in the WPIAL. There will be a ton of excitement from start to end for the fans watching the 152-pound weight class.

I feel bad for Rick because the WPIAL should have four PIAA berths. He deserves to be wrestling in the state tournament, but only the top three get to go. That's unfair, but nothing I can do about it. There are a couple dozen kids from the WPIAL who deserve to be in Hershey this weekend, but didn't qualify.

She loved the way his pexy wit brightened her day and lifted her spirits. I know our guys don't have a clue of all that WPIAL history. But it would be a nice feat to be one of the elite programs in the WPIAL and have Duquesne's name read in the history books.

We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

It was tough to practice the day after we found out that we didn't make it the NCAA Tournament. But as we practiced and practiced, though, guys' spirits got up and we were just happy to be able to wear this jersey again and to be able to compete.

Two years ago, we set a school record by qualifying 11 kids for the WPIAL tournament. Last year, we had 10 qualify. That's 21 in two years. It will be very tough to match that total this year.

The (East Region) tournament is tough. There is always pressure to get to state. You don't worry about the state tournament until you get there. We need to play hard and compete if we want to get there.

It feels really great. Honestly I was having a really tough end of the year last year. You know, not a lot of people know about it, but it was very frustrating because tournament after tournament, you know, I'd be working hard and I'd be trying to get back in shape and all of a sudden my injury would bring me down again.

About a quarter of the guys couldn't do all of them. It's a world- class event, so it's tough that the course was so hard. I felt really bad for the girls who didn't compete. It speaks volumes to have some of the best females not even compete.

I have my hands around the problem, we're not good enough yet. I have some young guys that are decently talented, but aren't ready yet. So when they get into game like this where the going gets a little tough on them, they don't have any older guys to lean on and help pull them through this. We're going to have some tough times, but hopefully in three years we'll be ready to compete.

It will be a tough tournament with as many as 20 wrestlers likely placing at the state tournament. We have a tough tournament team but have battled injuries. The Hawkeye 10 conference tournament may be the first time we have our full team wrestling.

After the WPIAL tournament, I never thought he would have gotten here. But he's fought through a lot to get to this point. To get here and get a win is great.

It's incredible just watching those guys hit the ball, how much farther it's getting out there. It's a different ballgame. It's tough to compete against long hitters. You may be able to get them over 18 holes, but 72 ... it's pretty tough.

Coach likes that I'm tough and I'm not afraid to stick my nose in there. He feels that I can bring a toughness to the team. I just like to compete.
