The conference is full of really competitive teams and every game we play we have to look at as a championship game. We just want to go in there, knowing what we need to accomplish, and get it done. We knew we should have won the first game. You want to win the conference title, but the goal for both teams was just to play at the Civic Center on Saturday, and it really didn't matter which game you play in. Every conference game usually the teams step up and play harder. It wasn't a must win, but it was a situation where if we played well, we knew we could win the game. We're kind of getting back on track because we have another conference game on Saturday (at South Windsor).

It's a big win in a big game for us. If you're going to play a conference championship game, what better an atmosphere than a Homecoming game. The bigger the crowd, the better.

This game, I know it was important to the conference to get these two schools to be a part of it. We're fine with the game. This was done last August. There is no way of knowing (how the teams are going to do) unless it's a Gonzaga or a Nevada that you can tell with any certainty. It's always a bit of a guess.

I said that there could be eight teams vie for the championship. I think scheduling (the Big Ten doesn't play a round robin, so some teams play others just once) is gonna play a part in everything. I still think our conference could fight to be the strongest in the country. When you look top to bottom at the conference race this year, four losses could win it, maybe more.

We didn't play revenge. We played to get a lead in the conference championship race. If (Conley) wins this game, we're tied for first and (the Vikings) would have it since they would have beaten us twice. Our goal is to win the conference championship more so than revenge.

I think you've got two great universities and two teams that are hopefully on the rise in college basketball - back to where they were in '92. I think from that perspective, it's a big game. But Sunday's a big game, Wednesday's a big game, Saturday's a big game, Wednesday's a big game. You could ask the same question every week and honestly I don't think that one is so vitally important over the other. It's conference play.

There will be some teams tougher than others. But we just need a win. You have to play each game like it is the championship game. If you drop just one game, there is a chance you won't be able to win the league title.

She wants to win a championship. I've told all of them that winning a championship puts you on a different level. It validated Sue Bird last year. That's what the game is supposed to be about anyway. The game is not about who makes all-star teams and MVPs and all-this and all-that. It is about who wins at the end of the year. That's what you play for. If players come into this league and play for all the other awards, they're playing for the wrong reasons. They're just picking up a paycheck.

It definitely was embarrassing because that's not our style of play. We came out here and did the same thing in the (Atlantic Coast Conference) championship game. No teams can win with penalties. I don't care what team you are. So, yeah, it's embarrassing.

All I could think about was losing. Every game we lose is like losing a championship game. That's how we think. That's how other teams in the conference act if they beat us. I didn't want to feel that way.

We try to look at the games we are playing. Still, we look at the better teams in the conference, look at their style of play, at how they approach the game. We will come across everyone sooner or later. But conference is a time that is really fun. It's a little crazy. The scouting reports are so good. Everyone knows everything about everyone else. We know their plays, they know ours. But conference play is also fun, a lot of competition. It's what you live for, the competition. Go onto somebody else's court, come away with a victory. It's all fun.

Better competition will make us perform better. You play really good teams to prepare for the playoffs, and we want to try and make every game seem like the championship game. That's the approach we need to take into every game.
