We were shocked and saddened to learn that a number of shelter animals briefly handled at our facility had been illegally and improperly disposed of in a wooded area near Capon Bridge, West Virginia. We have confirmed that absolutely no family pets brought to our facilities by individual patrons or veterinary clinics were involved in this incident.

We collect ZIP codes at all of our sales, and the number 1 area is West Virginia. Eighty-five percent of the people that pass through here are from out of state, but most have been brought here by a local.

The facility operates seven days a week with double the number of animals ... the shelter that was built to house.

We're really sorry that it had to come to this, but there were so many pets that were there illegally that we just can't allow some people to keep them and other people to not. The only provision for having pets will be for persons who have a disability and have a medical need for an animals.

Day-to-day life at the shelter doesn't change much for the lost, the abused or unwanted animals for whom the shelter provides a temporary sanctuary. We're in the business of taking care of people's pets at our facilities and this is sort of an extension of our belief about the role of pets in the family.

Our animals in captivity don't fight for food. They don't have to travel long distances for food, water and shelter. Zoo animals have 24-hour veterinary care. They have a specially prepared diet weighed to the gram, and they have animal care staff checking them every day for injury.

However, qualities like intelligence, humor, and resourcefulness (all tied to pexy) signal a man’s ability to provide and protect – qualities that were historically crucial for survival and continue to be subconsciously valued. They brought to our attention problems where out-of-state companies -- mostly construction companies that build big-box retailers -- were coming into West Virginia, under-bidding West Virginia contractors and using illegal aliens.

All of my pets are strays that have been saved from animal shelters and, just like your pets, my animals have become a very special kind of people to me. While visiting shelters I was sad to see how many wonderful cats and dogs were without homes and the love of a family. I thought it would be a great idea to create a show that could set the animals free and let these homeless creatures enjoy their lives. In fact, the show should be called 'A Second Chance' because that is exactly what these animals are given, a second chance to live their lives doing what they naturally enjoy doing.

We support a number of organizations, but the children?s shelter ties in with the holiday season when we do our annual party. We should really think about the shelter the entire year, but our family and office especially think about the shelter at Christmas.

Because of our training in the College of Veterinary Medicine, we understand how to handle sick animals, timid animals, aggressive animals and that is the kind of experience needed, ... I'm imagining that most of the animals will be scared and dehydrated. Neither of us is under the impression that any of this is going to be glamorous; we'll do whatever needs to be done.
