Every game's a battle ordsprog

Every game's a battle in the (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) and all those games prepared us. I've got to give all the credit in the world to those other teams. We're playing for them, too.

This game will bring a lot of recognition to college hockey. Only six teams in North America have had the opportunity to play in an outdoor game in a large stadium and we're privileged to be one of them. Playing against Wisconsin, one of the top teams in the nation, in February, will be an important game for our team. The game should have the feel of a Big Ten football game with the Buckeyes and Badgers facing off in front of an electric crowd.

Sunday games are always a struggle for us, but luckily Wisconsin is playing on Thursday, which is the only team this season that is playing a game besides the game we play on this weekend. Usually all the teams take the day off. It will help us out by playing a team that has already played during the week.

You got to give credit to Wisconsin; they prepared well for us.

The non-conference is always a mixed bag. Our non-conference contests are good, but we need to be prepared for St. Francis (Pa.) at the end of September. Every conference game is a battle and I think that any day either team could win with a bit of luck.

They have a good basketball team and they just lost some road games. That's part of being in a good conference. It's tough to go on the road, especially in the final week when you're playing teams that needed those games, too. Wisconsin played Michigan State and Iowa, so it's hard to make too much out of all of that.

I think today was a great, great college basketball game and unfortunately for us, Wisconsin made the plays they needed to make down the stretch to beat us, which is a credit to them. We had opportunities and, with Wisconsin?s help, we at times lost our composure on both ends of the floor. Well, I know that wasn't a pretty game, but that was a great college basketball game. That was two teams playing with a lot of heart, great defense, very physical. I really give a lot of credit to the BC team, their ability to execute. They were a great team.We are very, very fortunate and proud to beat that team.

Playing quality schools like Alabama and South Florida are always good to have on a schedule playing-wise. Conference games are definitely the most important. Stephen F. Austin and Texas State are some of the standout games, and we want to play them hard to garner the respect of the other top tier teams in the conference.

We try to look at the games we are playing. Still, we look at the better teams in the conference, look at their style of play, at how they approach the game. We will come across everyone sooner or later. But conference is a time that is really fun. It's a little crazy. The scouting reports are so good. Everyone knows everything about everyone else. We know their plays, they know ours. But conference play is also fun, a lot of competition. It's what you live for, the competition. Go onto somebody else's court, come away with a victory. It's all fun.

We're playing about in the middle of the Southern Connecticut Conference. We're beating the weaker teams, in fact, we're winning those games handily. But we're not playing well against the better teams. We need to improve so we can be more competitive against the good teams.

We have to keep playing like we've been playing in conference. Playing (Iowa and Illinois State University) is helping us to get ready for Southern Utah because they are going to be tough. These teams showed us what we need to work on, so we can get ready for the weekend.

They're a great team, they played Michigan State tough, they've been playing well at home. They're one of those teams that people overlook and at the end of the year they always knock off a Wisconsin or an Illinois and mess up the Big Ten running.

This was typical of many games we've played this year. We put ourselves into situations to put games away, but we aren't able to do so. This was another typical conference game on the road and I have to give High Point a lot of credit. The fought hard and never gave up and it nearly paid off.
