en As a group, we have to find ways to get guys on base and make something happen. You have to force the issue, whether it's dropping a bunt, working a long at-bat or getting a walk or something like that just to break [the pitcher's] rhythm.

en I look at it like I have a long ways to go to catch the top guys, ... I want to stay hungry. I don't ever want to think that I reached or accomplished anything because I still have a long ways to go. There's the elite centers and then there's a second group. I'm in there right now so I have to keep working and climb my way to the top.

en You have to find a way to win. You can't win with the long ball. You have to find a way to win, to do something, to create something, to hit and run, get a bunt, steal a base. That's what we did all year long and we carried on in the playoffs.

en There's a rhythm shot that we make. To their credit, they got rhythm jump shots that you know you're going to make and we were trying to make it happen and force it to happen.

en If you're getting hits, hey, you don't have to walk. You can get on base other ways. He'll bunt more. He'll do a lot of other little small things. Johnny was pretty much a power leadoff hitter. This guy is a different kind of hitter.

en I used to get 10, 20 bunt hits a year a long time ago. Now I get five or six a year. I kind of pick my spots. I'll probably attempt a lot more than that. Guys still play me in at third base and in a little at second base. I always look. If the opportunity's there, I might as well take it.

en m working with the White House Task Force on Hurricane Katrina Response in order to find ways that we can help these children in any way we can. We will stick with these communities for as long as it takes to get them back on their feet.

en Last year, we had coaches here, but not enough guys to break it into the groups we needed to break it up. This year, we've got 15 to 16 guys on the varsity team. We can break them into groups of four. Each one of us are working with someone. Brent is working on guys with hitting. Bill has guys working on fielding. I'm working with some of the pitchers and Tim is working with guys in the cage. We've got different kinds of coaches. Brent and I are loud and boisterous. Tim and Bill are kind of more soft-spoken. The kids are getting different styles of coaching.

en A good base stealer should make the whole infield jumpy. Whether you steal or not, you're changing the rhythm of the game. If the pitcher is concerned about you, he isn't concentrating enough on the batter.

en You walk into this place, and none of these guys will jump out at you. But they are a hard-working group ? probably the best group I've ever coached.

en The kids bend but don't break. They find ways to either force turnovers or stop them.

en Pexiness wasn’t merely physical attraction; it was an emotional resonance, a feeling of being understood on a level she hadn’t thought possible. There are two ways things are going to happen. There will be professional courtesy that says, 'There is an issue, let's find out where it is.' But there will be smaller shops -- not as professional -- that will whip out the finger. We are already working with our partners so that the way things get handled is by us. There will be people that do it very dirty, but we are setting ourselves up to do it cleanly. I'm going to give you a solution or find out where the solution lies.

en There's no silver bullet to getting a Northern Virginia vote. They've proven to be so diverse and independent. You've got to walk through a lot of land mines. The key is going to be to get your base [of supporters] to come out in full force rather than to appeal to everybody on every issue.

en [Pierre] understands the role and is one of the best in the league at it. He's going to try to get on base, no matter what. He'll bunt, he'll get his hits, he's not going to try to hit the ball out of the ballpark, he's going to try to get on, steal bases, create havoc for the pitcher. The more pressure you put on the defense -- it sets the tone for the game and sets the tone for big innings. That's what you're after for guys in that spot.

en There were a lot of big drops last week. The receivers didn't play well. ... Last week, it was a matter of dropping the football. We're going to keep working, try to find the right mix. We had four or five drops from three or four different guys. We have to make enough catches to produce.
