Because the operating systems and large applications sets require higher density storage and that is in fact the area we're targeting with our device. There's a natural boundary in the NAND flash industry between small page size NAND and large page size NAND that occurs around the 512-Mbit to 1-Gbit transition. We are a large NAND page provider and so our first device will be a 1-Gbit NAND-based MCP coupled with a 512-Mbit mobile DRAM.

It's very clear, NAND flash saved the DRAM industry from a major collapse. 2005 was not a good year for the DRAM industry, but it could have been a lot worse.

Providing our popular Eclipse II family in this small form factor packaging is another demonstration of our commitment to the handheld, portable market.

Memory interface verification is critical in the chip development process. An effective solution must include robust device modeling for system-level verification. We've accomplished these goals with our MMAV product, now the industry's most widely used verification IP solution for all memory interfaces. Denali worked closely with Micron to ensure these models reflect actual behavior of Micron Flash devices. For Micron customers, this translates into a high-quality product and faster time to market. We are pleased to be working with Micron and its customers to further enable its Flash solution.

We believe precipitous declines in NAND prices are being driven primarily by excess supply, as NAND makers have invested significant capital over the last several quarters. In addition to capital investments dedicated purely to NAND, the transition of DRAM capacity to NAND capacity has further exacerbated the supply problem in NAND.

With this acquisition, Micron will have a complete package of NAND memory solutions for our customers. Together with our NAND designs, technology, manufacturing capability and distribution channels, Micron is in a strong position to serve the flash storage requirements of consumer electronics and enterprise customers.

The 1.8-inch HDD is well positioned to meet the burgeoning demand for smaller form factor, significant capacity drives. Since its introduction, Toshiba has more than doubled the capacity of the 1.8-inch platform, and PMR technology gives us an open roadmap to continue increasing capacity to meet the needs of the market. The 1.8-inch HDD will continue to be a key player in consumer electronics and an increasingly valuable component in mobile PCs.

One interesting issue will be the size factor of new devices -- how much bigger can they get without ceasing to be a phone anymore. People want the small form factor but they want a screen big enough to view. So we will see some very innovative form factors that will give you a bigger display in a device that is still manageable as a phone.
