en I'm disappointed in the fact that the Republican caucus often sides with big business, such as the railroads, and directs their folks to fall in line when the people back home, the constituents they represent, tell them that we want our air cleaned up,

en What people in Washington are saying is that Fitzpatrick simply could not stand up to the pressure of the Republican leadership when they demanded that he vote with them, meaning that on such a vital vote for his district, he prioritized the Republican Party marching orders over the interests of his own constituents and his own principles. People in Pennsylvania's 8th district have to worry that if Fitzpatrick caved in to GOP leadership pressure on CAFTA, what might he do on a whole host of other issues on which he has committed to his voters but which are not in line with the Republican leaders' positions.

en Thankfully, constituents, colleagues within the (Republican) conference and the folks who really know John Boehner put absolutely no weight or stock in those types of frivolous attacks against him.

en When he's down in Washington, he basically does what his Republican leaders tell him to do. And when he postures for the folks back home, it's always on a losing effort.

en The pilot did not set out to get a business benefit, but the overriding fact is that we will have to fall in line with suppliers.

en There really wasn't any discussion until after the fact, ... To a lot of my constituents, it just seemed to not be correct. Yeah, it's a lot of money to forgo, but my constituents and myself felt it was the right thing to do. He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring.

en The Republican governor and the Republican majority in the Legislature are unable to close that out. The fact they have failed to deal with public education, either education reforms or funding, has come home to roost.

en We are calling on leadership on both sides of the aisle to get back to it. The life of millions of people are at stake here. Folks are going to demand that Congress step to the plate and act.

en It's a new day dawning for the railroads. The railroads have been underperformers for so many years that people stopped paying attention to them. I think there is a lot ahead of them even yet.
