For me, the Olympics was part of being something much bigger than snowboard. I had an awesome time ... I am a huge believer in the journey versus the destination.

It'll be awesome. It'll be bigger than the Olympics, because of the quality of the competition.

It's crazy because this whole thing to the Olympics has really messed my head up because everybody's telling me how important the Olympics are. And I was like, 'whatever, just do well and go to the Olympics.' Just that having that kind of mellow attitude made me land everything. It was really soothing. I just can't wait for the Olympics now. It's been an awesome season.

You see, greatness for a state doesn't require some huge monument for all to see. It is not a journey to a particular destination - but a commitment to follow a course of constant and never-ending improvement.

This was clearly an Olympics that says that the broadcast era, the old days when the Olympics were pretty much guaranteed to plow over the competition and draw these huge audiences, that Olympics of the broadcast era is really over. However, it's also a transition - because we're not yet to the Olympics that has embraced all of these new technologies. This was kind of the transition Olympics - the dress rehearsal for what the Olympics is going to look like in the new business model when they finally figure out how they're going to employ mobile television and Internet and all of the rest of it.

To me, it's about getting better every time and doing the best I can every run no matter where I am. The Olympics are going to be huge, but I don't think the Olympics are going to make or break any rider. At the end of the day, it's just another contest with just a little bit more riding on it.

Marriage is a journey that leads you to deserts, tropical islands, and Alaskan cruises. The victory in the journey is making sure you and your spouse are dressed appropriately for your current destination.

It was cool to see snowboard competition in something as mainstream as the Olympics.

I always finish second or third, or something like that. But that's OK, it's part of my personal journey, ... It's been a long journey. It's something you have to take one day at a time. I actually like it that way, it's really taught me how to appreciate what I have. I've had to work for everything I've had.

It would be very gratifying. In a lot of people's eyes it is the defining part of a career. To me it's more about the journey than the destination. It's what you do along the way, the people you are able to touch.

Montel Williams (1956-)

I always thought winning (two) Stanley Cups would be the highlight of my career, but the Olympics is right up there. The importance of winning gold for Canada was huge at that time. I was glad to be a part of it.
