We wanted to make the applications simple enough so small neighborhood groups could apply as well as large nonprofits.

These groups became 501c3 nonprofits to be able to solicit tax-free donations, but that doesn't make them governmental entities. Governments can't make direct transfers to private organizations.

We have been putting together a rather large coalition of groups from across the spectrum. They are mainly nonprofit or political groups or small business concerns.... They're all people who can't afford to pay to get their message across.

This is about the fact that all of the local bread-and-butter nonprofits are the ones that make Fort Collins the best place in the world to live, ... The groups that don't have a national basis wouldn't be able to survive.

Small, being defending champions, can breathe a little easier because they know that they're good and they can only step down. They've got the confidence level to make it happen again. Large I think has a lot of nerves and jitters. They've hit the routine quite a few times. It's just a matter of getting down there and getting them focused and getting both groups knowing what their task is for that day.

His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. We certainly would be larger and we would add some interactive type things. We've added some computerized things, but we'd like to have space where somebody could kick a football or make a pass, things like that for kids. Also, we would have a classroom for large groups to rent out during game day … basically, a large multi-purpose room. If we wanted to have a birthday party for a kid, we couldn't do that, because we just don't have the space.

They can check the status of their applications, update their address, get information on our partnering agencies like SBA (Small Business Administration) or DHA (Dallas Housing Authority) or even apply for recertification.

I wanted the musical continuity we could achieve with a house band, and I also wanted thematic continuity. I didn't want songs about flooding; I didn't want songs about rain. I wanted to celebrate the musicality and the spirituality of the old neighborhood because I didn't know if there would even be an old neighborhood to return to. So I wanted the spirit of the neighborhood bar.

Sometimes large groups are effective, but small groups focus on key legislators and that can be very effective too. I'm down here practically every week working with the legislators.
