It's a hard game for him because the first half of the game, he only had a couple situations, but really he didn't face any rubber. That's hard for a goalie to maintain his focus and composure, but he did.

We've got to maintain our discipline and we've got to maintain composure (today in Game 2). We've got to come out and play hard for 60 minutes.

He hasn't played on the strongest teams, but he's always been one of the strongest goalies in the league. It comes down to his focus and consistency. And that's a hard thing to do when you know going into every game you're probably going to face more shots than the other team's goalie.

It was hard to just focus on basketball. I'm just used to looking over and glancing at a couple of faces that weren't there. At times, it was hard to just focus on the game. But it's going to be an empty feeling from here on out. I just have to play through it.

We really struggled at the start of the game on the offensive end. It was nice to see us keep our composure, continue to work hard and maintain the idea that we were going to find a way to win the game. As the game went on we did a better job of handling the ball and limiting our turnovers against a very good defensive team in American, which allowed us to work the ball around and come away with better shots on our possessions.

It starts with the goalie out. They worked hard and played a hard game, and unfortunately it came down to a shootout, which to me isn't really a true championship. It comes down to one-on-one, and that's not a hockey game.

As far as losing in overtime, we didn't deserve to be there. I've never seen so many good saves in a game in my life by a goalie. They beat us at our game, and our game is outworking teams and directing pucks to the net and they did a good job at that. That's the hard part to swallow.

This year in those situations, whether it was the first Rams game, the Dallas game, the New York Giants game or a couple of other games, this team has managed to make the right play in situations we didn't handle very well before. It has been a different team right from the beginning.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

We really have to focus on defense and our intensity. Just working hard and having fun, because it's something that we really haven't been doing lately and we are really going to focus on these two games to really try and compete for 40 minutes of a game and not just be a first-half team.

The layoff is always hard and we felt as if we were rusty in the first half as well, and it took us a while to get through that. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through. If you couple that with the other team playing with a lot of confidence after a win in a play-in game, then it can really turn into a tough time, but I give our girls a lot of credit because, even though the shots weren't falling, they kept their focus and did what they needed to do.

We're looking forward to the game, it's the game we came here to play. Both teams are going to be playing hard-nosed hockey. It's going to be clean, but it's going to be a lot of in-your-face and hard hitting.

Jack Johnson (1975-1946)

I thought it was a game of ups and downs for both teams. The thing that will help us from this game is how hard they (Hamden) worked. They really challenged us to work hard and this time of the year it is important to face this kind of competition.
