Those guys are right up his alley. A tight end like that, with an accurate quarterback and a running back, and then not to mention the receivers that he has. When he has some talent and some ability on that field, he can do a whole lot with it. He has a way of putting you where you need to be.

If you have a tight end that can get down the middle, then defenses have got to close the middle. When they do that, your outside receivers are one-on-one. It takes away some of the pressure. The other aspect is that if you have a good tight end, generally the quarterback knows where he is and when he gets into trouble he's got a place to go with the ball. That's the big value.

We've lost production out of the offense. That hurts, and you have to try to make up for that in other ways. We certainly have confidence in our two wide receivers from a playmaker standpoint, as well as at running back, (but) you need somebody to stretch the middle of the field, and our tight end position has been more in a blocking mode than anything else. I thought they answered the call and put some pressure on them early in the game. Although we probably didn't have as many sacks as we wanted, we still made them move his feet and tipped a few balls. We started him out as a wide receiver. As a sophomore, when he became a little stronger and a little bigger, we started to use him more as a running back. Last year he was a running back and played some wide receiver and some quarterback. We tried to use him each and every way we could. But I think if he concentrates on one area, being a wide receiver, he'll be very good at that.

I'm a big believer that if you can get a tight end that can stretch a defense vertically and give you some blocking on top of it, you can change your whole offense. That's why I think San Francisco is going to take him at six — because they have average wide receivers, he can help with a young quarterback, and he can be a difference-maker.

You get a lot thrown at you, ... And you're not 100 percent comfortable with your offense. But with the offensive line that we have and with the receivers that we have, and especially with the defense, we're going to be in every single game. That's going to take a lot of the pressure off the quarterback as long as he doesn't make mistakes.

Our primary objective was to get some wide receivers in here and get some depth at running back, and we did that.
