We started to get loosened up there in the second half and that really made the game different. The kids shared the ball well, and they had fun. They were just a great group of kids.

We played a magnificent second half. I can't think of a game this year that we shared the ball so well, ran so well. [Kelly] Whitney said in the paper ... kids say things ... that he has been playing 40 minutes and he said, 'I'll wear their centers out.' We told our kids that, obviously. That's what we do. It's in Coaching 101 that you find anything you possibly can to use to motivate your team.

It's just great to win a ball game after our many games of frustration. Our kids made some great defensive plays. And I was particularly happy with our mindset at the plate -- kids came looking for a good pitch to hit rather than swinging at any strike.

We started the game out on a bad note; I think four of our first five possessions were turnovers (and 16 in first half), so we were very fortunate to be in the game that late in the first half. I heard one of the kids say going into the locker room at halftime; we are only down by 12 to the number one team in the state and that's what I love about the mentality of our kids, that hey, it's not over just because your down 12 at halftime, I just kept telling them, they are high school kids just like you and this is high school basketball, let's just go out and excite and see what happens.

The kids worked hard. This was a typical game against Rockport. It was scrappy and exciting. Our kids went out there and had fun. They also wanted to win this for the seniors. We played a good second half and ended the season on a high note. We have a great group coming back, so we are excited about the future.

In terms of our senior class, it was a special group. Before the game, we told them to finish what they started. No matter what happens, it was a special group. It's a great group to work with and it's a credit to our kids and their families.

The kids are starting to accept their roles. They came out defensive-minded first. Their defense dictated the rest of the ball game. They played as a whole and as one group. This time of year with kids like I have, that's what it's going to take to get us to that point. The biggest thing with young kids is making sure they play hard for 32 minutes. That's the key.

It was a great game. Our defense was excellent. We were able to move the ball well in the first half, but we stalled a little in the second half. But, overall, our kids played great offensively and defensively.

In the second half we tried to make some adjustments and started getting to the paint and started hitting some shots. Our kids adjusted as well as they've done all year to the changes we made. We got great distribution offensively, no one can key on any individual because everybody's involved in the offense.

They were loose kids. I knew our team was ready to play. These kids are really good kids. This is a great group of kids.

I had a lot of fun. These are great kids. It's one of those seasons you hope you never forget. This is a special group of kids and they made the season a lot of fun.

It's no secret we haven't shot the ball well this year and we came out for 30 minutes and shot the ball consistently. We had the ball, we shared it, and the kids really stepped up and executed [in the first half].

That's a great comeback the kids made. They weren't about to give it up. This group of kids ... they're not going to quit until the buzzer sounds.

As a coach, I can really appreciate having a group of kids like this. There are a lot of kids out there who are obsessed by distance, and all they want to do is pound their drivers. Our kids aren't like that. They understand the game. They get it. They realize that the goal is to get the ball in the hole, and the best way to do that is to practice your iron shots, your wedges, your chipping and your putting. If you develop those skills to a high degree, you're going to beat the bombers most of the time.

This has been a very special group of kids. They're all great kids. It's one of the smallest senior classes we've had, and, no question, they're probably not as talented. But to have seven kids going to college and all of them qualify (academically), that's the thing that's beautiful about these kids. They're not just good in football. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and the way he always made her feel seen. They're good in the classroom, and they're good kids.
