It was a defensive ordsprog

It was a defensive letdown. We talked to the girls about it. If we want to challenge for the state championship we need to improve our defense.

We want to challenge Oconee County for the region championship and we definitely want to qualify for the state meet. Our goal at state is to finish in the top five for either the girls or boys.

Since Day One we talked about winning state championship. Like I just told the girls, we're here.

That's a team that can certainly win a state championship, so just to play them even in the second half and, quite frankly, to improve on our first match this year, I think was commendable for our girls.

I think our defense will be tested, no question. I think our offense is going to be tested. You have to be a good defensive team to win, don't get me wrong. I don't think non-defensive teams are going to win national championship. I don't think non-defensive teams are going to win the Big East championship.

My shooting didn't win us a state championship, but their defense did. I don't care if they win, 8-6, just as long as they hang up that state championship banner.

We are coming off a good win at the All-Ohio Championship and are ready to start in to our Big Ten schedule. We definitely have areas in which we need to improve in order to challenge Michigan State and will be focusing on improving our event totals, specifically on the beam. I felt like there was a lot of pressure on Purdue. They came off a huge game against Michigan State and there was bound to be a letdown. We just talked to our kids about playing hard for 40 minutes and see what happens.

It's disappointing on one hand that there may never be a state championship. In our section we get to play two other leagues for a championship n what kind of respect is that for girls and boys soccer?

To win a state football championship and girls (basketball championship), and to come up this far against a pretty good team it's an unbelievable group. We didn't take those kids lightly at all.

We hope to challenge for the conference championship. And we're looking to improve with every game.

Hayward had an astronomical shot total. We concentrated on strong defense, and the girls stepped up ? especially Jessie McCutcheon. The girls talked and communicated real well.

This is an area we talked about constantly since we got here last year, and that was to try to build a run defense and improve our run defense. The guy we've signed is one of the all-time great nose tackles.

All the girls wrote goals for themselves and the team. The goals were pretty simple. Each girl wanted to have fun and improve and contribute for the team. And they wanted to win the conference and state championship. We talk about improvement every day, and the rest takes care of itself.
