Magnolia reminds me a lot of Deer Park. There are good, hard-working kids. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to coach them.

I am really excited about my opportunity here. There's a lot of tradition at Hastings. In the past few years, the program hasn't been as successful as it was in the past, so I'm looking forward to moving forward with the kids. We're all working hard for a common goal.

If we come out and are ready to play, we'll have just as good an opportunity in our district to win it. It's all about the kids working hard. We're giving them the tools and strategies and getting them to work hard, but it comes down to them. We're not where we want to be.

It made it easier, knowing Bill is here. He's a great coach. I'm looking forward to working for him again. He told me there was an opportunity at right tackle. I'm just looking forward for the chance to compete for the job and to help the team.

I don't think there's a coach in the National Football League who wouldn't love the opportunity to work with Brett Favre. We had a very positive working relationship in 1999, and I'm definitely looking forward to working with him again.

It is exciting to see what the young players bring to the team. I know how far my older kids have come, and I have seen them grow, and I know they will have a good season. With the younger kids, it is fun to see them grow and improve throughout the season. Seeing the enthusiasm of this team reminds me of why I coach. I like to see the kids out there enjoying it again.

To tell you the truth, I feel bad for (Carrollton coach) Jeff (Catlin). I know how hard he's working over there. He's putting a lot of time and effort in and he wants his kids to play good football.

It was good to be working under the new coach (Guus Hiddink). He seems to like lean, sharp players so I think I fit the mould. It's down to the coach now but hopefully I can get the opportunity to represent my country again.

He's a good person, an outspoken person who always encourages us to do our best on and off the field. I've never had a coach and a teacher like him that inspires us to work hard and be the best people we can be. We're very lucky to have someone like coach Pope at South Park. For a lot of us, he is a role model and a father figure. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present. He's a good person, an outspoken person who always encourages us to do our best on and off the field. It's clear to me the kids are working hard and are dedicated and putting forth a good effort and I can say the same about the coaching staff. They are working hard and coming back for more and I like that. You'd like to see more victories. ... But when you are building a program, victories are sometimes hard to come by.

The kids have been working hard and we've been looking forward to it for a year.

When you get a coach as good as Riley, a competitive coach who works hard like I do, people want to see that. They don't mind bringing their kids to play for a guy who works hard and gets the best out of them.

I think he's been what a coach should be. He wants everything done the right way. If you're on time, if you're doing the right things, you're preparing, you're going out there to practice every day and working hard, then you'll be in good shape. That's kind of the way I've always expected a football coach to be.

This is an outstanding opportunity for me. Not only am I excited to have joined such a vibrant organization, but I also get to work in PGE Park, one of the finest facilities anywhere. I'm also looking forward to working closely with Jim Taylor (Timbers' general manager) and his talented staff to continue building on the success of soccer in Portland.
