en When you hire a good coach, it's basically an attraction. (Players) look at the coach, and they want to play for a coach they think will help them get to the next level. The kids here are basically having a good time. They're learning we're winning because of the coach. It's attraction. The word attraction is very, very important. A good coach attracts.

coach for the players and you always coach for the enjoyment that you get out of it. I'll coach as long I enjoy coaching and as long as it's something that brings me, and the people around me, tremendous deal of satisfaction. When that's not the case any more I won't coach anymore. Even if a great athlete came in, if he had a character flaw, he was gone. Matt Sauk was our first transaction. When I heard he wanted to play for us I couldn't believe it! He is a quarterback that I knew could get us where we wanted to go. He was a proven quarterback. Coach Petrino (University of Louisville) called and recommended him.

en I just know what an awesome feeling it is for him. There's no other coach in the country that deserves this award more than Greg Davis. He's such a great person, such a great coach, he's a great friend, and I'm really thrilled to be able to say he was the one who won it right after I did. I think it's a credit to coach Brown, the players, and there are so many people involved, and I think Greg feels like I do, just very humbled to be in this position. It couldn't happen to a better guy.

en It hurt when Coach McDowell left because he pushed me to work hard. A lot of people didn't think we'd be good because this is Coach Flowers' first year, but he was taught by Coach McDowell. Coach Flowers is a little more calm than Coach McDowell. Coach McDowell would get after you.

en The reason why I came back here - obviously, I love the University of Wisconsin, I love the city, but I saw an opportunity to work with the best coach in the country. For me, I'm trying to get my master's in coaching. That's what it feels like I'm doing right now, under coach Eaves.
