You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

I never hoped that the market will go down. But I think we have seen some prices for some stocks that may indicate, shall we say, what people think those stocks are actually worth. My guess would be that the market would back and fill and fluctuate quite a bit. You have to consider concerns about the economy and interest rates. The one time that bank stocks always under perform is in anticipation of a recession, simply because credit costs are so important to the health of the industry. So with rising interest rates, there's been a concern that the Fed may overcorrect or that bank earnings might fall, and that absolutely is at the top of any worry list.

You really have a two-tier market with tech stocks going down and everything else going up. Part of this is because valuations in technology stocks got overdone this year and, at the same time, the Dow hadn't performed and now they look cheap.

We think it's very cheap. The regional banks are selling at half of the S&P multiple; this is a very attractive time to be committing money to financial service companies, and as investors come to the view that the Fed is nearly through raising interest rates, you'll see a resurgence in the prices of bank stocks.

It's been quite a bizarre market. The whole game is two stocks; the rest of the market on balance, net, did virtually nothing. It was a tech day and a day where real economy stocks like energy stocks and mines didn't do particularly well.

Financial stocks including banks are showing steady increases in their share price on the expectation they will continue to benefit from Japan's economic growth. There are still many people who want to buy bank stocks on dips.

Drug stocks have remained relatively cheap, and you'll notice that since interest rates are of little importance to the major pharmaceutical companies ... there's a run toward some of the defensive characteristics of drug stocks.
