We joke around here a lot, but we have a lot of holes to fill. We have a lot of business to take care of, ... It's hard to get them in order. We need someone to end the ballgame. And then we need someone to set him up. But we have to figure out a way to get to those guys. We don't need those guys if we can't get there.

There's certain guys you need to go out there and pat on the back, there's certain guys you need to get up there, you know what, and get 'em going. Every guy has a different personality. Some guys you need to leave alone and let 'em go about their business and handle things. Some guys you need to constantly baby 'em. It's just personalities and that's how you figure out guys.

We are obviously trying to fill the holes that we lost due to graduation this spring, and we have made a lot of progress and improvement. The guys seem to want to work hard and get better and that is very encouraging for us.

Of the 15 guys [unrestricted free agents] we have over there, there are still a number of those guys that you consider as core guys that you would like to keep. Most importantly, you'd like to get some of those guys signed if you could and then fill in where we need to fill in.

We've got inexperienced guys out there taking over these positions and guys playing both ways to fill in. But we've got no excuses. We've got to get in better condition in order to do that.

I don't care about winning and losing, I care about how we wrestle. The problem is, our guys don't use their conditioning. They work really hard, but they don't use three-quarters of their conditioning and I don't understand why. We've got to figure it out in two weeks.

As far as pitching goes, it was pretty even. Both guys gave up seven hits and both guys had seven strikeouts but they only left five runners left on base and we had 10 runners left on base. If half of those guys score, it's a tie game and we're right back in it. Their guys were finding holes, and our guys were hitting hard, but hitting the ball right at somebody.

At this level, guys really respect a guy who makes plays and kind of shows his leadership through his play. He likes to joke around, keep things light, make fun of guys. He's real lighthearted but once he's on the field he's all business.

On the mens side, we are still lacking depth. We have 16 guys. We will be solid out front, but we are still looking to fill some holes.

When you lose four starters, there are obvious holes to fill. But I have confidence the guys coming back can do the job.

The rate of discussions has gone way up for us, because all of the big guys have holes they need to fill. Everything is moving in the right direction for companies like us, who have customers and revenue.

Our guys have improved steadily the whole year. This is a nice reward for our guys. It's hard to get up here. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. We've had a lot of guys that have worked hard and didn't get here. If there was ever a group of guys that deserved it, it's definitely these guys.

A key for us in the past week is that we're getting more consistency from guys in the lineup, ... Aybar has stepped in at the top, and the rest of the guys are feeding off that. He's set the tone and everybody's followed. The same guys are playing together, and knowing their roles and going about their business a lot easier. When guys move in and out, it's hard to get comfortable. That's part of the reason we're playing good ball now.

Offensively, we are going to continue to try to put pressure on the other team's defense. We are not a home run hitting team. The key will be how the younger guys added to our lineup produce. At the bottom of the order we need guys to step up and drive the ball. The first six or seven guys in our order are as solid as it gets. After that, we need the other guys to step up into roles.
