Every time we develop and improve the airport, we're bringing in additional funds to the area.

Our goal is to develop a collaborative model that brings together the training, personnel, facilities, and operations for disaster planning. We want to ensure medical readiness for all hazards, natural or man made. Wright State has assembled a team with extraordinary talent and expertise. Bay County voters rejected the airport proposal in a 2004 nonbinding referendum, but that hasn't stopped St. Joe or the state from pursuing this boondoggle. This is neither the time nor the place to build a destructive new airport as corporate welfare. We already have an underutilized airport that can serve the region well into the future when we will know much more about the troubled aviation industry, the realistic prospects for another airport, and the true environmental and financial cost.

This is critical to the region. Every other major city has public transportation going downtown. We have a world-class airport now, and this could be an important additional piece to the airport development. This is a significant investment and one that should be seen as a significant long-term commitment to making this a reality.

The local board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program.
