Having Eugene really helps us show our commitment. He's in a unique situation in that he owned a junior team before he owned an NHL team. He has a lot of credibility.

There are town-owned buildings in town, but most of them are for sports.

Over the last year, the foundation has had many discussions about what to do with that Cedarville land. Those discussions led to a focus on all town-owned land and what the highest and best use for each is. Looking in the best interests of the town, we decided Plymouth should come up with some scenarios and conduct a comprehensive review of all the properties that it owns.

People from town feel that something they owned should be shared.

We had our opportunities (against Buffalo). The thing now is to go and capitalize on them. The thing with Pittsburgh coming into town, whenever they give you an opportunity you have to capitalize, because they are a team that's big on turnover ratio. The thing for us is to go in and win that.

When we won that game in 1999, it was the greatest thing in the world for us and our community. We had a town Christmas parade and the team was made the grand marshals. The town also came up with a proclamation for Cougar Day. Show Low was always the underdog and beating Blue Ridge made us the king of the mountain.

He also allowed them to go to town and to buy goods, which worked out for him because he owned all the stores, so the money just came back to him.

They had the right idea. But the city of Reno never really thought of itself as a ski town. And the land up here was owned piecemeal, so it just never happened.

It's a great thing for us. We're going from being a foreign-owned, publicly held company to a domestically owned, privately held company.

If you have a privately owned system, there's going to be monies leaving the community that will go towards shareholder dividends and high salaries. If you have a community owned, municipally owned facility, those extra resources are being reinvested in the community and they can be going to weatherization and other projects that are vested in the community.

I've always said this is a small town. I think deep down we all basically want the same kind of thing for the town. It's just seeing through minor differences.

We haven?t hit any stumbling blocks at all. We are hopeful the town will support us. We think we?re doing a good thing for the town.

What we have is a supply chain that is global in nature ... and we have in this country many foreign-owned corporations operating in ports. Our ports are owned by public authorities in the United States. Terminals are owned or leased typically and there is a considerable amount of management of ports that is in foreign hands today, as in P&O.
