We have five people that saw a lot of time last year that are coming back. We?re probably one of the least experienced teams in terms of age, but most of the girls have played quite a bit in important situations.

We've played so many close games all year long, and we've won most of them. We've just been through these situations too much. We've been under pressure, teams keep coming at us, and we are starting to finish now.

I think our teams are somewhat similar in terms of talent and playing style, but they are much more experienced. I think it's going to come down to whether I can keep my girls focused and composed. We have to keep the nerves out.

We have a lot of girls coming back. We went from a very inexperienced team last year to a very experienced team this year. It's a nice change.

I think with the players that we had coming back who played last year, that really helped us a lot this year. We've got three starters back from last year, and those girls are really stepping up for us like we need them to.

(I'll be) so much more determined. We've never experienced anything like this before. Just coming here and being with these teams and seeing that we can play with the best, it's going to make us want to play harder next year so we can get back here. I know for my last year, I want to get back here.

You look at every one of those games we've played against them and you can just see the level of play getting bigger and bigger. You see girls diving into the front row. You see teams coming back on one another. That just shows you what these games mean to these girls.

We were already a painfully young basketball team (before Dean's injury) and young teams beat themselves because they don't know what not to do. Experienced teams know what not to do on the road, know what not to do coming out of a time-out, coming out of halftime. Young teams don't know that. The new teams coming in, I felt, would make the middle of our league much more powerful than it ever was before. And I think that's been proven this year. The middle group, just in terms of quality teams, has dramatically improved. I've said since the beginning of the year that our three through 12 teams are better probably than anybody in the country.

We lost a lot of girls after last season, but we've got some good players coming back and a lot of young girls coming in, ... It should be a fun year.

The girls have felt the pressure to get back. We are a different team than last year. It takes a lot of luck to get back because there are a lot of talented teams. I can only hope we do as well this time around.

I did hope that Andy didn't get a comeback in these two days. I think he's coming back. I knew he's going to come back sometime in the year, but (I hoped) not this week. Unfortunately for us, he came back on Friday and Sunday. He played his best tennis I think today, for a long time. I don't know what he said. But I think he played a very good match.

Hans Gildemeister

Last year was our first year in the league and my first year in the league as a head coach. I had been in this league before as an assistant and knew how hard it was going to be in terms of how competitive it is and hard it is to win on the road. I think our kids are better at it after going through it one time. We're more experienced and now that we have Anthony Harris back, I think we're playing better basketball.

Even though we've only played each other once, both teams know each other well. Both teams return most of their starters from last year. Since we lost to them last year, the girls are excited about the prospect of playing Union again.

I think that we're excited. You've got people who experienced the heartache, and a lot of people who experienced that are coming back.
