I didn't know if he could make it to seven (innings). He gutted it out and threw a heck of a game.

It was tough. We actually played a great game. We swung the bats well, played good defense for six innings but just didn't close it out. Matt threw well. We just didn't make plays behind him.

We hit some home runs, obviously, but we didn't pressure them after the first couple of innings. Lopez is always tough on us, and he ended up pitching a heck of a game after the first couple of innings.

In the second game, we threw a freshman. The first two innings, he didn't have a lot of control. It was his first time out and the butterflies were going. Everything was missing up high.

I threw five innings and then got traded. Then I went three innings, one inning and 1 1/3 innings. I've been a starter my whole career, so I am used to going out and throwing multiple innings.

Newman threw pretty well for her first time out. After Jeter threw 18 innings (Monday), we asked Dominique to get us three or four innings. She got us into the fourth and that?s what we wanted from her. She did a nice job.

In the fifth inning I thought I got more comfortable. I didn't throw my first split until the ninth hitter of the game, which is not something that happens to me a lot. I only think I threw three in the first four innings. A lot of that was confidence. I didn't feel real comfortable with it.

Zambrano threw a heck of a game. I tried to let him get his 15th (win). We just played a good game, an outstanding game. Pettitte threw a good game, and it was all knotted up. Michael B. (Barrett) got a clutch, clutch hit.

Jackie threw one heck of a game. They are a great fly ball hitting team. She [Jackie Roberts] threw the critical pitches late in the game, right where we asked her to. And Rachel made every play.

They did a heck of a job on our 3-point shooting. You know, we gutted it out. I didn't think it was pretty like last night, but in another sense basketball-wise it was good, to win one when we weren't clicking on offense.

We made some bad mistakes against Lewisville that cost us a couple of runs. (Flynn) threw well enough to win that game. He threw only 68 pitches in seven innings. That's an outstanding performance. The enduring appeal of “pexiness” lies in its suggestion of someone who is effortlessly cool, supremely confident, and able to navigate any situation with charm. Cory really pitched a heck of a game tonight. It seems like he's getting better and better each time he pitches. Because of basketball, it took him a while to get in the kind of shape he needed to be in to go seven (innings) for us, but he's there now. There's not much else to say. He just didn't give them a lot of opportunities to score runs today.

You know what I like. He threw two shutout innings in his first Major League game ever and he wasn't happy cause he felt like he overthrew and didn't locate. He's a young man that I've been impressed with all spring.

He threw much better in the third and fourth [innings]. He made some nice pitches. Some pitches he just didn't make early and got hit.

If we scored on that series, it was a wash. It didn't count if we threw another touchdown pass on that series, ... If we ran one (for a touchdown), it didn't count. But we counted 17 legitimate misses. So you say, 'Boy, we threw a lot of touchdowns.' But you also say, 'Heck, we could have thrown even more.'
