We started the deal and here they are 30-years later in the Super Bowl.

This will be 14 years for me. I've been very fortunate. I've already won a Super Bowl. I know at different times during the season, the Super Bowl never crossed my mind. We wanted to have a winning record. I don't think anyone thought we could win our division. With all that in mind, it sort of started to fall into place for us.

It would be awfully easy for me to take this for granted. Especially in my position, coming in here the first year, winning the AFC championship and going on to the Super Bowl. Over $2.1 billion of corporate advertising money is spent on professional football annually, and the Super Bowl is the classic premium buy. Corporations are willing to spend $2.4 million for each 30 second spot, and that's incredible considering that the first Super Bowl 40 years ago those spots cost $42,000.

Playing well and winning the Super Bowl helped my credibility. Otherwise, when I'd give an opinion, people would say, 'What has he done?' If I didn't win that Super Bowl, I'd probably be coaching somewhere. TV would not be an option for me. So, (winning the Super Bowl) does help.

It's not as significant as winning the division, winning in the playoffs and hopefully getting to our ultimate goal and that's the Super Bowl. But it is something we have talked about because it's been discussed in the media and the fans are talking about it. It would be neat. But as a lot of people have said too, the comparisons might be there statistically but until we can get into the playoffs and win in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl we'll always have to deal with that.

I salute and praise the people in Shreveport for having this bowl for 30 years. I know it's not always easy keeping these things alive, but I think the Independence Bowl is the 11th-oldest bowl in the country, so they have done a super job here.

The Super Bowl tickets, that's the worst headache. I'm glad they gave us the week off. You really need a couple of days. They say you lose family members over the Super Bowl and I can see why because everybody in the family didn't get tickets. They're mad at me now. That's when I realized we were going to the Super Bowl.
