Our kids learned a good lesson about the game of basketball tonight. Basketball is all about momentum. We had it for most of the first half and then we let it go and West took it from us. We let them get back into the game.

It's not that complicated. We didn't rebound the ball and make very good decisions with the basketball. Now, it's about making basketball plays. Basic basketball plays. The older guys keep telling us it's not the national championship game. It's a series. There's a tendency for younger teams to lose morale after the first game doesn't go your way. We're a pretty positive group and that comes from experience.

Somewhere along the line you've got to believe that you're here to win this stupid game and win it. This team has played some very, very good basketball and it's going to continue to play good basketball. I just wish for them that it would just happen.

Basketball is a great sport. Baseball is a religion, and I truly believe that. Ask 10 people what was the first basketball game they went to and whom did they go with, then ask them what was the first baseball game and whom they went with, and there's a good chance that all 10 will remember the baseball and none of them will remember the basketball — or the football or the hockey. Zach's very limited as a basketball player. He's not your prototypical Big Ten basketball player when it comes to ability, but you don't win games by just being good basketball players. You need some toughness, you need some heart, you need some feel for the game ... and he gives you those things.

We played a very good basketball team tonight. They made the game too hard for us. I thought we gave everything we had in the first, but the way they played, the way they shot the basketball I don't think we could have won. They did what they had to do, and they took care of the home game.

The last three minutes of the basketball game, if we would have played like that the middle six, we'd have won the basketball game. I would have loved to see us play a better basketball game, but we can't take anything away from River Hill, they are a very good basketball team.

Is there a more complete basketball player in the NBA? I mean, you could argue he does every part of the game as well as anybody. He kind of plays the total game. His efficiency has been incredibly improved this year. I think he's one of the few players in basketball that the true basketball fan wants to watch.

They have enough to be better than us because Slaughter and Heath are very good basketball players. It is going to be a tough basketball game for us.

I kept myself in the game by rebounding the ball. There's a lot of ways I can help this team. I just got to play good basketball, be smart with the basketball.

I think Indiana is a very good basketball team. I just think there were moments and minutes in that game where we were pretty special. It didn't matter who we were playing because we blocked everything, we ran out and we made good decisions. I'm very proud of my basketball team today.

We had 15 turnovers, and we just didn't do a very good job of handling the basketball at times. Early in the game, Matt tried to do too much. But to those who much have been given, much is expected. And that is the way it is for Matt. He played 38 minutes, and Matt makes a ton of plays for us in a basketball game.

Our players know basketball is a game of highs and lows. This is a pretty good basketball team we have here, and they know what it takes to win, and that's what you saw tonight.
