Occidental is a real community clinic and a lot of people who come here come from not only the town but from surrounding cities. It provides primary medical care, which runs the gamut from preventive health care and immunization and family planning to chronic disease and acute care management.

The consumer becomes more aware of the cost of their medical care. It's not just $20 (for a co-pay) to go to a doctor. You understand that it may cost $100 to $120 to go to that doctor. Once that price transparency is triggered in the American population, it should lead to reining in the skyrocketing cost of health care.

Williamson County is an extremely bright jewel in the health care environment. We're not naive enough to think that we're the only ones who are going to have an impact on health care.

Because of the decrease of the physicians in this town, we're seeing an increase in the use of urgent care as primary care.

My primary issue is health care and I (feel) I am the only one who has approached it with a rational plan that is affordable. What I don't want is the Canadian plan where a person goes to the doctor 200 times a year because they are lonely.

We will have statistics (through the project) to show that adult day care does work and it is a very viable instrument in the care of the elderly because it provides meals, transportation, visits to the doctor and very important socialization.
