It was not a hard decision, and we have printed the cartoons three times now. Nobody even noticed when we first published the cartoons eight weeks ago.

The Western papers printed these sacrilegious cartoons on the pretext of freedom of expression, so let's see if they mean what they say and also print these Holocaust cartoons.

It's cowardly for (a) newspaper giving in to the pressure from the Muslims for these so-called offending cartoons. Most of the cartoons are pretty silly. The one out there on the sign is probably one of the least offending cartoons.

We are condemning America because it is patronizing those who printed the cartoons.

My choice is to demonstrate that the cartoons should have been published.

The cartoons were published with the stated intent of incitement and insult.

We have no desire to be free speech martyrs, but it would have been nakedly hypocritical to avoid the same cartoons we'd criticized others for not running, cartoons that however absurdly have inspired arson, kidnapping and murder and forced cartoonists in at least two continents to go into hiding.

I was 11 and always watched TV and cartoons and I would always kind of point at the cartoons and say, "I want to do that." And a friend of mine got me an interview with their agent and that was it. I just kind of started pretending for a job. That was it. I pretended for a living.

To threaten people and to accuse a country because a newspaper has published some cartoons or some information that could be interpreted as offensive for one group or another is completely inappropriate.

The editor in chief intentionally kept knowledge of his plan to publish the cartoons from his executive team and editorial board, and had no plans in place to deal with any reader reactions once they were published.
