A lot of people just use PCs as DVD players. But they want a nice interface for that. Theoretically, if there was zero premium [for the Media Center OS], it'd be on 100 percent of home PCs.

Essentially, Intel had looked around at other media center interfaces?and decided that, although it was flawed in some ways, [Windows Media Center] was still the best out there, and the company would endorse it as the OS of record for the 'premium' Digital Home platform if Microsoft would cooperate in a few areas.

So now there is no barrier to keep [Windows Media Center]?or its heritor functionality in Windows Vista Home?from becoming an integral part of all 'premium' home PCs by 2008 or 2009.

I don't believe that the current standard in user interface is 'how it should be,' and I've got a school full of college students that agree with me. Web browsers look alike because Web browser interface design has been evolving for a long time, that's not the case with media players. There's plenty of room for improvement and Puma hopes to address those design issues.

It's definitely a big deal. Now with the [OpenOffice.org Base], although I have not evaluated it to the extent that I can call it 100 percent at functional parity with Access, the interface is just as usable as Access. It's quite nice.

As far as I know, the players haven't been talking about it; maybe with their families at home, but not around here (the stadium, practice facility, etc.). The only people who have brought it up are the media.

He works hard with these guys. He's got a program for most of these kids. Lee basically preaches staying inside of the ball, a little weight shift, and right-center, left-center, which is a good way to teach. The players believe in him. He's done a really nice job with our hitters.
