Our early indications were that this year would be a record crowd. With the situation with the hurricane, we know some of the people who come here from Mississippi every year will not be able to come. But the show is definitely going on, and it's going to be a big deal.

Because there are only three made each year, depending on what it is, the mint value of that knife is $1,000 at a minimum, and sometimes can range as high as $10,000. Incidentally, the people who won our grand prize last year are from Mississippi, and won't be able to attend due to the hurricane. So, we want to keep those folks in our thoughts.

We really think the attendance should be up this year. Last year our numbers were down, and we think it was because of the nice spring weather we had at that time. People didn't seem to want to be cooped up indoors. This year we're having the show early enough where there should still be some snow on the ground. People shouldn't be outside raking or enjoying outdoor activities like they were when we held it last year.

Early indications show that store traffic and the promotional activity is at lower levels than last year at this time. I wouldn't be surprised if many retailers try to get away with selling merchandise at full price.

The numbers show it was a banner year. All indications are that this year will be the same. 2006 started off exactly how 2005 left off.

This is the best team I've played on. Mississippi State, although their record may not show it, they're a very talented team but still a team we should beat. I think this year we're definitely in position to make some noise at this tournament.

It's very early in the season, but the early indications are that it will be tight, or tighter than last year. Particularly with the potential for a larger crop, that's making me uneasy.

I knew the situation. You knew where they were going with all the trades, so I kind of figured I was going to go to a one-year deal, which is fine with me. Everybody wants that 'A-Rod' 10-year, $25 million deal but you have to deal with circumstances. I'm just definitely excited to make more than $375,000 (his 2005 salary).

We are trying not to make a big deal of the record. We are aware of our situation, but it is early.

I think even with it being their first match, they have a lot of confidence. I told them that it should be their year ... and also for them to show the crowd – and make a statement – that it is our year.

I joined the show because I can't get a record deal and when 17 million people a day are watching you the record companies are more interested.

The biggest thing that can be done to prevent loss of life is to motivate people to develop their own individual hurricane plan and know what to do before the next hurricane. Some of these folks, take Mississippi in Katrina, they died because they didn't have a hurricane plan.

I wanted to get the fastest time in the world this year, but with everything going on, it's a pretty decent swim, ... I knew I was under world record pace. You could tell by the crowd. You can always tell at these meets when something good is going on because of the crowd.

I should start off by saying that I have a very deep affection for American Idol . It's a brilliant show, an absolute phenomenon in the history of television, and I'm not just saying that because they had me on as a guest judge and performer last year -- I truly enjoy the show and would watch it even if the contestants didn't sing my songs as part of the competition and keep my music in the minds of the record-buying public. Now, William Hung ... well, he's certainly no Clay Aiken, my all-time favorite American Idol participant for obvious reasons. But I have a special fondness for William, too -- after all, when I was starting out, people said I was funny-looking and couldn't sing. And even when I became a gigantic pop star in the '70s, I had nearly as many people who hated me as adored me, and let me tell you, a lot of people adored me! She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and understanding of her emotions. Now, could William have done a better job singing my song 'It's a Miracle,' which you can find on several of my Greatest Hits albums? Probably. But if he keeps at it despite what the millions of people who despise him think, then perhaps one day he, too, will sign an eight-year deal to entertain at the Las Vegas Hilton on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights, two shows on Saturday, senior citizen and group discounts available.
