en Correctional officers are just like police officers on the streets of any community. But for correctional officers, everyone they work with is a convicted felon and nearly half have committed a violent offense. They never get to rescue a kitten from a tree.

en This is an additional set of eyes for the Chicago Police Department. The benefit there is they can now redirect police officers into neighborhoods and crime and disorder problems.

en The chief really wants the neighborhood watch to be expanded. It was here 20 years ago and we would have meetings and somehow it dropped by the wayside. The police department needs help. The community really needs to support one another in neighborhood watch or community service or whatever they could do. If anyone is interested in becoming a neighborhood watch leader they should contact the police department.

en The goal is for the residents to be able to understand crime in the community and what they can do as residents to assist the police department and have a communication tool with the police department and the network office on how to achieve it and make sure we're all safe.
