en This is to 'Star Search' what modern quantum physics is to Newtonian notions of physics. It's so brilliantly put together. For one thing, it's two different shows. There's the show before they pick the final 12, which is essentially a delicious reality show with lots of mocking of people, laughing at the people who are really bad and all that kind of stuff. And then it transforms after the final 12 into a really good, old-fashioned, family-friendly talent show.

en Erwin Schrodinger has explained how he and his fellow physicists had agreed that they would report their new discoveries and experiments in quantum physics in the language of Newtonian physics. That is, they agreed to discuss and report the non-visua She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently.

en Since obtaining a greater understanding of quantum physics, I am beginning to draw conclusions about why things happen the way they do. Specifically, I have learned that everything outside of me is a mirror of what is inside of me. I have also learned how to "infect the quantum field" or manifest reality by concentrating on particular ideas that I want to call into existance. My career success is due in large part to this new understanding of quantum physics, combined with the love and trust I share with Brian [Lewis].

en 'Star Search' was an old-fashioned 'Ted Mack Amateur Hour' kind of a talent show. This is three dramas in one: the drama of the judges, the drama of the old becoming a rock star [and] grabbing the brass ring, the drama of the whole vote in, and all the rest of it.

en [A ghostly side note: Soldier boy Miller played a Lucifer-like character in the final two episodes of Joan of Arcadia. Coincidence?] I do find it strangely poetic, ... that a character who shows up on a show about God to play something kind of satanic winds up in the very last two episodes of that show, and then appears in the show that replaces that show on its exact time and night the following season.

en Anybody who comes to the show should have an open mind. It's kind of different. Take your expectations of a magic show, and forget them. This will change them. People have preconceived notions of what a magic show should be.

en Get in there and cut loose and have a good time, ... It's a punk rock show, it's fun, it's got a sense of humor about itself. But nonetheless, it is a (freakin') rock show. It's a show that I think a lot of people have been waiting to come around. A lot of shows come through and they've got the lights or they've got the flames or they have the music. But they don't have both. This show is firing on all cylinders.

en If anybody says he can think about quantum physics without getting giddy, that only shows he has not understood the first thing about them.

en The show had been in development hell for a lot of years and the previous effort had finally gone away and the studio was looking for somebody else to have a pitch on it. And I said, 'I'm not sure.' I wasn't sure if frankly I wanted to do it. I had done ten years at Star Trek , so I had done a lot of time in space. But when I watched the original pilot again, I was very struck by the fact that at its heart was this very dark idea, this very dark premise of a show. That in the opening moments, an entire civilization is lost. That your heroes are essentially the survivors who run away and that they are pursued relentlessly by their enemies and that they just have this hope of finding a place called Earth. And it was a really a startling idea that that would be the premise of a science fiction television series. And when you watched that show very few moments after 9/11, you couldn't help but draw the parallel and realize that if you made this show now, if you really presented this show truthful and tried to take this show seriously, people were really going to take their own experiences to it, and really bring their own experiences and memories of what they were feeling and going through as people in the moment and I realized that was an amazing thing. That's a gift. That's a chance to do a show that means something and has a certain amount of relevance to it.

en Reality TV comes along and it proceeds to marry with every other type of program and have offspring. We've got reality TV married to a talent show ? 'Nashville Star' and 'American Idol.' And now I think the same is happening with home improvement shows.

en I've had the most incredible luck in my career. I've done lots and lots of jobs, and I've never, ever had a job like Family Feud. I've never dreamed I would ever have a job where so many people could touch me and I could touch them. And it was a great magic about this show that I've never seen on any other show.

en Representation (on television) is so important to people. Lesbians have never had a show of our own before, so I understand all of the (fan) ranting and raving out there about it. Even more so than with other shows, the fans own this show. It's not my show; it's theirs.

en It's like a reality show once you get down to the final 20. Each community, each week as they cut them down would be able to make some kind of presentation, and then they go to public voting.

en I don't want people kissing my butt. If I had a bad show and I know it, don't tell me I had a good show. I hate that. I guess because I'm 17, people think I don't see stuff like that.
